Sen. Wyden presents medal to Korean War vet in Salem on Fourth of July

Korean War veteran John Taggart from Aumsville received the Korean Defense Service Medal on Sunday, the Fourth of July, at the Salem Korean War Memorial. 
U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden joined Taggart's family to celebrate Taggart. He also spoke briefly about what the ceremony to pin the medal on Taggart represented. 
"Sometimes the history books label the Korean War as the forgotten war," Wyden said. "Let's make it real clear today, John Taggart isn't being forgotten by me or by countless Oregonians." 
Taggart was one of the thousands of American soldiers who fought in the Korean War, supporting South Korean forces against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea,  also known as North Korea.
