A series of gunshots echoed through George Floyd Square Tuesday morning, causing a public panic just hours before an event marking the 1-year anniversary of Floyd’s murder at the south Minneapolis street corner.
Bystanders ran and ducked for cover outside Cup Foods at 38th Street and Chicago Avenue as shot after shot crackled through the air, according to video from the scene shared by an Associated Press reporter.
Minneapolis Police confirmed they responded to reports of gunfire at 10:09 a.m. local time and that witnesses claimed to see a suspect vehicle speeding away.
