Árný Fjóla Ásmundsdóttir, a member of Gagnamagnið and pregnant wife of Daði Freyr Pétursson, tested positive for COVID-19 in border testing when re-entering Iceland after representing Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest, and finishing in the country’s joint-third-best-ever position of fourth.
Árný’s is the third coronavirus infection that has afflicted the Icelandic delegation; including two among the bandmembers.
The Eurovision team were all vaccinated with the single-dose Janssen vaccine before heading to the Netherlands, but it takes three to four weeks to provide its fullest protection. Before this time, however, it does help to prevent serious illness.
