The second accused in the murder of a Lenasia teacher has appeared in court and abandoned his bail bid, the Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority says.
"The second accused is Thabo Mambila. He also didn't apply for bail," NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane told News24 on Thursday morning. Mambila was arrested in May by Gauteng police, but was under police guard in a hospital after being assaulted, allegedly by members of the public."
Police intervened as the suspect was being assaulted by the community at Phumlamqashi, south of Lenasia. He was taken to hospital under police guard," Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said in a previous statement.
