Seattle must pay $82,000 to Black Lives Matter lawyers in battle over police use of projectiles, pepper spray on peaceful protesters

The city of Seattle must pay $81,997.12 to lawyers for Black Lives Matter in a battle over police use of crowd control weapons on peaceful protesters last year, a federal judge has ruled.
The amount was a substantial reduction on the $263,708.50 sought by the lawyers who said they spent nearly 500 hours preparing their motions for contempt and sanctions.
But the city sought a much steeper reduction, arguing the lawyers only managed to convince the court that four out of 122 disputed uses of pepper spray and blast projectiles violated prior court orders.
