The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said it awarded over $90 million this week to 24 tribes and tribal housing entities to support the construction of about 350 new housing units.
In a press release, HUD said that includes $5 million for the Muckleshoot Housing Authority to construct 25 rental units on the Muckleshoot Reservation in Auburn, and $4.8 million for the Nez Perce Tribal Housing Authority to build 16 new rental units in Lapwai. Those units will be energy efficient and the ground-level ones will be handicap accessible.
