SCSO: Gatlinburg woman's death was murder

SEVIERVILLE — Sevier County Sheriff’s officers have charged a Sevierville man with first-degree murder in the death of a Gatlinburg woman whose body was found near the Spur last week.
Sheriff Ron Seals’ office charged 39-year-old Jonathan Seth Stalcup Friday with felony murder, first-degree murder, and aggravated kidnapping for the slaying of 52-year-old Carolyn Ann Bartles, of Gatlinburg.
Stalcup has been in the Sevier County Jail since Wednesday, when officers arrested him on unrelated charges that afternoon at a home in Cosby.
Bartles’s remains were found Friday in a wooded are in the 500 block of King Branch Road, between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
