Scooters coming to Monroe
The City of Monroe has opted to move forward with an agreement with a company seeking to bring electronic scooters to the community.
During a meeting Monday, city council unanimously approved moving ahead with a memorandum of understanding with Bird Rides, Inc.
The California-based company will bring 25 units and deployment stations to the city, enabling residents and visitors to use the electronic scooters within the municipality.
Those wishing to use the scooters will access them through a rental service operated via Bird’s online app. Users will be charged per minute for their use and a flat $1 start-up fee.
