School on lockdown after 5th grade girl threatens student with box cutter, district says

An elementary school in Lakewood was briefly locked down Tuesday morning after a 5th grade student threatened another girl with a box cutter, the board of education’s attorney said.
The girl was briefly “in police custody” as investigators determined whether charges will be filed following the verbal threat at Oak Street Elementary School, according to Michael Izelbuch.
The school has a metal detector but the box cutter is aluminum and wasn’t detected, Izelbuch said
The school was locked down for about 15 minutes after the box cutter was confiscated shortly before 10:30 a.m., the lawyer said.
