Sturgis Public Schools Board of Education on Monday examined and discussed several agenda items for its next board meeting, scheduled for April 19.
Board members received a request for proposals report from Ray Sterling, the district's director of finance. The district is interested in purchasing two new gas-powered buses, as part of a fleet-replacement plan.
Each bus will be identical, Sterling said: a 77-passenger, Blue Bird unit. Cost is about $93,000 each. The board will take action at the April 19 meeting.
Sterling also discussed a request for proposals for placing a new roof over the Sturgis High School cafeteria. Division 7 Building Contractors of Kalamazoo submitted a complete bid that came within 5% of the estimated cost of the project.
