SC to hear comedian Munawar Faruqui’s plea against HC order denying him bail today

New Delhi, Feb 04: The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Friday a plea filed by comedian Munawar Faruqui, who is accused of hurting religious sentiments by allegedly passing objectionably remarks about Hindu deities during a show, challenging the Madhya Pradesh High Court order denying him bail.
Faruqui's plea would come up for hearing before a bench comprising Justices R F Nariman and B R Gavai.
Faruqui and four others were arrested on January 1 following a complaint by a BJP MLA''s son that alleged objectionable remarks about Hindu deities and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were passed during a comedy show at a cafe in Indore on New Year''s day. One more person was arrested subsequently.
