The Ketchikan School Board on Tuesday evening set clearer terms for its search for an interim superintendent and consequently extended the deadline to apply for the position until Friday to allow potential applicants to take the clarifications into account with their submissions.
The board also approved a contract with the Alaska Association of School Boards to conduct a full search to help the board find a permanent superintendent, and formally accepted the resignation of Board Vice President Sonya Skan.
The board directed Board President Kim Hodne to convene a hiring committee to help evaluate candidates for the interim position. The committee will include representatives from the board, Ketchikan Indian Community, the Ketchikan Education Association, the Ketchikan Leadership Organization and parent representatives.
