A 39-year-old Sault Ste. Marie man has been sentenced to 24 months to 10 years in prison after being convicted on child abuse and domestic violence charges.
Earl Bailey, a former Michigan Department of Corrections Officer, was convicted after a three-day trial in April on child abuse in the second degree and domestic violence.
A witness testified during Bailey’s trial that back in July 2019, he saw Bailey push his mother off of a porch, resulting in her falling onto a concrete slab, causing injuries. The witness, who is a minor, intervened in an attempt to protect his mother, and in response, was physically kicked off the porch by Bailey onto the same concrete slab, causing a break to his arm.
