A new student start-up program in the area is giving youth the chance to receive grants for self-employment.
According to a Town of Hanover release, the Saugeen Student Start-Up Program is geared to help students develop creativity and business skills.
The Saugeen Connects partnership, consisting of Brockton, Hanover, Minto, Wellington North and West Grey, with the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), created the Saugeen Student Start-Up Program (SSUP) in 2019.
Due to Covid however, the program had to be cancelled in 2020. After some adjustments were made, the program is ready to run again this year for students in the region from Grades 6 to 12 to try self-employment over the summer holidays, from July to August.
