A statement by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday underlined the Kingdom’s position on the centrality of establishing a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, as a major requirement for bringing peace to the region. The statement came to block the way for any compromises regarding Riyadh’s consistent and established historical position, which was enshrined in the Arab Peace Initiative, about the recognition of the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, in exchange for any normalization.
