Saskatchewan Polytechnic administrators say the post-secondary institution has largely recovered from a cyberattack that crippled its systems last fall.
Online classes were cancelled for several days after the Oct. 30 incident. Vice-President of Administrative Services Cheryl Schmitz confirmed at a media update on Thursday that the issue began when someone opened an email attachment that contained malicious software.

Schmitz said outside experts were brought in to help, and have managed to get most systems fully functional. Remaining fixes include a new online registration tool for Continuing Education programs. She said registration is currently being done by phone, and is expected to be available online in the next few weeks.
