Sarasota County senior assistant named sheriff's general counsel
SARASOTA COUNTY — Crystal Bailey, a senior assistant general counsel at the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, has been promoted to general counsel following Col. Kurt Hoffman's election as sheriff last fall.
The former Assistant State Attorney in the Sixth Judicial Circuit was Hoffman's understudy since 2014 and they share the same fundamental values.
"I think I've learned from his decision-making," Bailey said of Hoffman. "What motivates him and how he makes decisions. This job really is centered around integrity and what is the right thing to do."
The Sheriff's Office, according to Bailey, not only looks at what is lawful, but what is right in its rightful policing strategy. That includes strategic planning in the jail and developing a good culture within the agency.
