DIMAPUR — The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Disaster Management Committee of Sao Chang College in Tuensang have jointly organised a one-day seminar on disaster management on March 28. An update from the college stated that Sinlo Khing, sub-inspector of Home Guards and Civil Defence, made a power point presentation on “Disaster management– preparedness, response and recovery,’ in the first session. He has highlighted on how preparedness for any sort of disasters in advance could go a long way in saving precious lives. In the second session, practical demonstrations were demonstrated wherein the students were taught on how to take care of themselves as well as the injured before professional help arrives. The programme was chaired by Lizonthung Shitiri, assistant professor and coordinator of SCC disaster management committee, while the college’s vice principal, Longtichang Tzudir, gave away certificate of commendation to the resource persons. It stated that Dr. Santosh Kumar Singh, IQAC coordinator, delivered the welcome address, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Shilumongla, assistant professor of Economics. Report further stated that the seminar was attended by the students of BA and B.Sc. 2nd semester.
