SANDWICH — Standing upwards of eight feet from a pedestal, a glass-made obelisk that will emanate light during the night and glisten during the day is set to become downtown's newest art installation.
“At night it will be very bright, and in the daytime, it should kind of sparkle,” said Michael Magyar, the local artist selected to create the glass art sculpture.
The Glass Town Cultural District Committee voted their intent to sign a license agreement with Magyar to erect a three-year temporary sculpture that will be located next to the Dexter Grist Mill. Magyar has been operating out of the Glass Studio on Cape Cod, located on Route 6A in Sandwich, for close to 30 years.
