Woman says she moved to safe house

NEW ULM — A 44-year-old rural Sanborn man is facing six charges, including two felony counts, in Brown County District Court for allegedly abusing minors.
Wayne A. Turbes, 14634 450th Avenue, Sanborn, was charged March 4 with felony 3rd-degree assault-past pattern of child abuse, felony threats of violence, gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child, two counts of misdemeanor domestic assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Turbes’ bail was set at $30,000 without conditions, $2,500 with conditions on March 4. An initial appearance was set for 8:30 a.m., March 16. He bailed out of jail Thursday without conditions.
According to court documents, a Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy took a phone call Feb. 27 from a woman regarding domestic assault to her child and harassment she said she received from Turbes on Feb. 26. The woman said she moved to a safe house with her children and said Turbes called her “nonstop” and drove around looking for her.
