Applications for the open Salina City Commission were filed by the Wednesday afternoon deadline with 11 Salinans vying for the seat vacated by the resignation of Rod Franz last month.
By Kansas statute, the current members of the commission are set to appoint a new commissioner to the seat and city code gives the commission 60 days to make that selection.
The packet for the commission's May 17 meeting has the applications of these 11 candidates which are Randall Hardy, Joe Hay, Norman Jennings, Chad Farber, Peter Earles, Aaron Peck, Matthew Newbanks, Kaye Crawford, Douglas Alt, Jacqueline Cairo and Lucy Larson.
