Keeping the country's daily COVID-19 tally below the 600 mark for the second straight day, South Korean health authorities are working to bring the figure down further.
"To have stable control of virus prevention efforts, alleviate the nation's anxiety and support the economic recovery, the headquarters will put its full efforts into making sure the daily tally falls below 500."
This comes after the country on Friday reported 5-hundred-25 new cases.
Local transmissions accounted for more than 500 cases with only 16 coming from overseas.
The greater Seoul area remains a virus hotspot more than 63 percent of the local cases coming from the region.
