RTL and the National Audiovisual Centre (CAN) are lifting the curtain on more than a century of filmed material in the national archives.
This week's footage looks back at Grand Duke Jean’s visit to the Goodyear factory in June 1973 where he admired a Zeppelin of the “Blimp” class.
Between 1972 and 1986 Goodyear’s “Blimp”, dubbed Europa, was present at several sport events such as the 24 hours of Le Mans et other Formula One races. It was also directly responsible for jaw-dropping bird’s eye view shots of Big Ben and the Coliseum for example. Most notably, the Zeppelin was also used during two British royal marriages in the 80s.
