The police deserve our respect for doing a tough job that most of us would have wouldnt have the courage to take up but then he added that like in any organization youre going to have a few bad apples. Yes bad apples. Like the bad apples in rochester new york who killed 4141 year old daniel prude a black man who died in Police Custody while suffering a Mental Health crisis days after video footage was released showing officers putting a hood on him and pinning him to the ground or about all those bad apples in Salt Lake City utah who slate now reports shot a 13 year old autistic child several times after his mother called 911 to get this ask for a Crisis Invention TeamIntervention Team to take him to the hospital during a Mental Health episode. Who by the way that autistic boy Linden Cameron hes a white boy. I wonder if box knew c. N. N. All those loud mouthed Security State punk and so the apologists will dive into his juvenile record looking for Police Violence justifications with the same zeal and zest they had when they did it to Trayvon Martins history Michael Brown browns history or to rices history and speaking of kids falling victim to overzealous policing and the criminal zation of black children look no further than the treatment of 12 year old Isaiah Elliott of Colorado Springs who according to reason dot com was suspended for 5 days and had police visit his home after a teacher briefly saw him move a neon green toy gun around on his couch during a virtual classroom session. When the Security State meets the nanny state and our kids get trapped in the crosshairs it aint because of a few bad apples my friends it means its time we start watching the hawks. On a city street you want to. See. This joyce state. Great city this least systemic dissent says the late show which. Was more for the watching the entire over the now in the leisure every every single day every single week it seems like 20 and 20 has been nothing but made up of one more totally ludicrous Violent Police interaction with the public one after another after another no youre absolutely right and you would think that the american prostration the pressure of these families how we continue to watch these cases bubble up over time that there will be a media better all reaction and that were not seen alike specifically pointing out that hey you know this was a young white kid that this happened to as well its its not you know when there are people on the right will continually fade this is race baiting and they see black people out in the streets protesting against it you hear donald trump say well you know white people get shot by the cops to 100 percent actually but youre still not doing anything about it thats the kind of blows my mind its like yes you know black folks in america they definitely and native americans america their percentage of them getting shot and killed or wounded or attacked while only by police is a much higher percentage but yes white people get attacked by police asian people get tired but everyone is getting attacked by police on some level in this country that should cause a stall sit back and say hey maybe we need to rethink how were doing things here yet because the common denominator is the policing system thats it. Just to go through that. Because i know theres also the case the about this boy who is in colorado and is doing the zoom classroom teaching and they see him move a fake toy gun thats clearly a fake toy got i mean it was neon green with the words zombie hunter printed on the side of it no ones mistaking the pluses of his own home thats a ridiculous case for them to call the cops without even telling the parents till after they call the cops but youre absolutely correct and they think that you know i mean we talked about this off the air earlier just around how not only the parents werent call but it was very easy to understand that this was outside of protocol in general if there is an assumption that someone has has a weapon and it clearly in this case you saw that it was bright green you could some people could even see the insignia on it it clearly was not anything that was violent a simple call to the parents to ask about it if you thought that you know it breaks to that level of alarm would have simply helped out but you know suspending this child making sure that you know he spends time outside of the classroom which is already hard because theyre doing Virtual Learning in general its just really negligent and unnecessary because kids are going to have toys this is a child we have to remember that children are going to do age appropriate things a child having a nerf gun or a you know a. Military way is not necessarily something thats outside of the norm for a kid in his age group yeah i mean look danielle your mother agree she told fox 31 local food there that she was furious at the schools decision to notify her after the police or been called she declared for them to go as extreme as suspending him for 5 days sending the police out having the Police Threaten to press charges against him like a scared straight kind of thing i assume because they want to compare the virtual environment to the actual in School Environment isnt the same thing yet as a kid you cant bring a toy gun in any kind of gun looking object in the school i mean weve heard the ridiculous things about the kid getting suspended for making a finger gun i would only understand it but this is in a childs home. This isnt the school but this is. Samantha briggs the communication director fraud bill district whole district 3 where this all took place told journalists we follow all School Board Policies whether we are in personal learning or Distance Learning we take the safety of all of our students and staff very seriously safety is always our number one priority. Its kind of ludicrous though at the end of the day we shouldnt allow the school to dictate what we can or cant do in our own homes do certain no youre absolutely correct and the thing that bothers me the most about this is that this young child got more whole more Police Reaction then what we saw a cow rittenhouse who was a 17 year old with an actual weapons could want to wait kill 2 people and was able to you know drive back to his home state away that is a really really really good point never even thought about that connection that we. Know that him the. Best pretty incredible. September is National SuicidePrevention Month this month is designated to raise awareness for an issue americans are all too silent about Mental Health between and sometimes ignorant comments to complete lack of support for those suffering from Mental Illness america is in a very tough spot a new study by the centers for Disease Control and prevention says 40 percent of American Adults are struggling with Mental Health issues caused by the pandemic isolation Financial Stress and other destabilizing factors lead to an outgrowth of depression anxiety mood disorders fear foreclosures and a victualling many families on the edge people feel as though there is no really. And likely so more than 28000000 people and counting have applied for Unemployment Benefits millions Lack Health Insurance because it was tied to the jobs they lost Mental Health centers and counselors are hard to come by this makes for a perfect storm but adults arent the only ones affected the suicide rate among those between ages 10 to 24 jumped between 2727000 according to the c. D. C. The 56 percent jump makes suicide the 2nd leading cause of death among young people in that age group and if we break this existing down even further those aged 10. 00 to 14. 00 solve the suicide rate for people. This is a reality but sadly i know all too well my younger brother twan lost his life to suicide just 12 years old. But with suicide on the rise Mental Health care is still an afterthought for most americans and our elected leaders schools lack of support Services Necessary to include children suffering from depression anxiety and other disorders parents are falling under the weight of an uncertain economy not to mention the health risks and circled around just living while black in an American Society that refuses to acknowledge your humanity this month and hopefully annually we will pledge to do more to support those suffering to advocate for Mental Health services and a Health Care System that equips all americans with access to tell sores and wrap around services we arent there yet but with increased advocacy and awareness the tide can turn lives literally depend on it its interesting because Mental Health care is actually one of the youre right its one of the least talked about elements of our Health Care Like its where i mean obviously you dont in the pandemic get it you know everyones kind of focused on viral and. Mental health care is a big part of keeping yourself or you absolutely and sadly its also something that hasnt ever really been taken. Seriously in terms of our Health InsuranceCoverage Even for those who are still working and how strong Health Insurance coverage for Mental Health services is very low most people might get one visit with a therapist but for the most part this is still a treatment that you have to go through and pay out of pocket so i think we also have a real issue when it comes to what Health Care Systems view as health they dont really consider Mental Health the priority that it probably should be why is it so stigmatized with its always kind of weird you know its always kind of how to be its been a stigmatized we all love shrinks we all love psychologists but theres still that element of youre kind of a lunar or whats wrong with you if youre going to the doctor to get your head you know to get your Mental Health because people have a very narrow view of Mental Health and Mental Illness 7 is you know the old school if you have a Mental Illness then you go to the go to a living facility you go someplace where youre strapped to Something Like there are these these very interesting views of what it means there if you know the crazy uncle that they keep in a room somewhere you know not to bother him when he has episodes but america has never really dealt with the fact that there are people functionally who have Mental Illnesses and move disorders every day i talked about my brother because that was a very hard thing for me and when i think about young people like him who have passed away due to suicide in many cases its because of other things that are brought on we know that in communities where poverty is strong you have kids and their parents who also are having and experiencing large loads of depression and anxiety people who relocate often are people who have housing instability people who have incarcerated parents there are so many risks associated with growing up in certain areas or having certain large scale events happen in your life at younger ages that make it very difficult for many kids to see a future and we just dont invest enough in counseling support and prevent a bit of them also reaction because its also that it always felt like to me youre growing up in the mind is there was a big kind of another kind of spike continued suicide became kind of a hot button issue that it kind of drifted off to the background. But also i think one of the problems is we kind of just throw any depressant drugs at problems and dont actually look at the root cause as you mentioned those root causes you talk about environment things like the family situation all that stuff weve become a society which kind of like put the bandaid on it rather than actually get to the problem that we have and thats one of the secondary issues because what ends up happening is for those young people who may have been medicated and want your own those medications its not like you ever get off and they call their own set of issues from you know you having eating disorder issue you know exacerbating new disorders and if you ever get off of that Health Insurance many of them will actually turn to street drugs to try to get that same type of you know mindset that they had when they were on the other prescription drugs. In this crisis when you look at the numbers its frightening and when you have a lot you know the suicide rate among young people jumped 56 percent suicide attempts among black youth increased by 73 percent those are massive numbers that need to be looked at and we need to start studying the saying what can we do to bring those numbers down beyond just the medication aspect of it what are the other causes of this what do you believe them because especially in youth that were seeing this kind of jane youre seeing growth and out growth in Cyber Bullying i mean i got bullied as a kid but i can imagine getting bullied in the era of social media that you know thats caused a lot of kids to can it go more inward and have these issues in addition to kids who have gender dysmorphia were seeing a lot of young people have issues you know related to who they feel open that they can talk to theyre getting beaten up on theyre getting castigated about their sexuality and were seeing you know more and more cases of that but were also seeing and i think that this exists a pretty coby it because actually the child suicide rates have been going up since 2007 it is also a lot of children are taking on adult responsibilities and america doesnt really recognize that their children who are helping raise siblings there are children who are helping to take care of their parents their children who are really having their lives of children their children who are faced with adult decisions very early in life thats a great point a really great point a great point to leave you with on this subject matter all right everybody as we go to break. For that you can also start watching the hawks on demand for the brand new portable t. V. Which is available on all platforms coming up we discuss the impact of the black watch matter on hollywood yes and we also discussed the tragic loss record job of both stay to watch. Everybodys gaslighting everybody comprehensions are gaslighting new Central Banks are gaslighting you get a stellar cast lining is you know that its not pleasant its rude its downright rude. Is your media a reflection of reality. In a world transformed. What will make you feel safe. Tyson nation full community. Are you going the right way or are you being led. By a. What is true what is faith. In the world corrupted you need to descend. To join us in the depths. Or remain in the shallowness. And then with a post some of this is that. This has been the. Last time we chased. Each one of them carrying 20 kilos d of drugs. First offense to. Lose that they just stepped right through. Its 3 and we have maintained the money coming. This is for me. I dont know maybe they dont make or. Break right. Now well. Since the killing of george florida really going all the way back to the murder of Trayvon Martin calls for equality in criminal Justice Reform in the United States of america havent been this loud and proud since the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960 s. And while weve seen the influence of black lives matter on our streets in our politics and during our favorite sporting events many are now looking at how the industry behind americas greatest export entertainment is going to handle and embrace this generations calls for social justice and equality im talking of course about hollywood Darrell Miller and see that and double a c. P. President there johnson recently noted in a variety of other tauriel that Studios Networks and other Entertainment Companies have rushed to make the usual symbolic gestures of support for the black community but they go on to observe that hollywood must. And can do more we cannot continue to operate on autopilot when considering who is portrayed in our productions how their approach right and who makes those decisions so with the industry still in mourning following the tragic loss of chad to bozeman one of the best actors and performers of his generation is the business of show finally ready to truly embrace the fight for Racial Justice and institutional change ill ask you that to me should you know from looking at hollywood from the outside in. Are they really making changes for the better or is it still kind of window dressing will you know put on like certain little pageants will put on certain Little Things but really at the core of the industry. I say i would go with a lottery that hollywood is checking off boxes what were seeing is not high level systemic change but there have been some promotions where it is you know the streaming Services Like netflix and others will showcase different elements of africanamerican history and africanamerican life you know push certain producers out who probably wouldnt have gotten attention otherwise and i think that thats still a step forward but in terms of a large scale change were seeing the same opportunities for africanamerican actors actresses producers writers as we see for others i dont think that thats there we still see the micro aggressions we hear the stories from actors and actresses you know things that have been said about them or things theyve been said to them during the course of filming during the course of you know some of the some of the writing and how certain things that are prominent within the ethnic group have been taken out because you know white sanitization happen so i definitely think that theres a lot of change that we still need to see you know i mean you got a member of the hollywood at the end of the bay was still an industry the you know a lot of racism early on in the industry i mean this is you know this is still a company you know this is still an industry that at one point put out birth of a nation yes its a long time ago but that wasnt exactly the most racially friendly movie ever made and you know i think a lot of times they do that kind of rest on the p. R. Machine but when you get into the executive level you know you might see more artists right now and theyre definitely doing a good job i think in terms of like trying to be more inclusive of different artists of all you know walks of life and backgrounds and cultures and skin tone but its when you get into the executive culture in hollywood thats where you kind of see the marrow down to where theres very you dont see a lot of black executives in hollywood and thats i think where you need to see that change and i think thats across the board for most institutions in this country and no i would agree with you and i think that that is 100 percent hit the nail on the head thats why african to me. Ricans are cross the country were so with static when tyler perry opened his studio that he decided to do it in atlanta you know the black mecca of entertainment that he decided to choose actors and actresses and writers who were people who hollywood basically ignored for time and time again and i think that we have to see more of that type of leadership because honestly black people in entertainment at this point many have reached the ideology that hollywoods not going to do it for them so theyre going to have to reach back and work with people who look like them people who are developing this new type of art form people who are doing it in many cases outside of the hollywood scope just because it has been such a long road to hoe hollywood is one of the 1st industries in this world that will definitely make money off of black culture and black art but will it inject money back into the black community thats thats where the kind of always that you see the music all the time too its like we love making profits off the artists but who we got to give Something Back to the artists in their family who know that makes us uncomfortable no with coke we are we gave them an award. Hopefully that changes. After a week of nightly protests in rochester new york the citys chief of police has now stepped down the announcement comes as the public calls into question why the chief initially told the citys mayor that daniel proof died of a Drug Overdose and made no mention of officers putting a spit hood on him and pressing his face to the ground for 3 minutes arties fan friends at reports.
