Somebody who never should have been department of education secretary she doesnt have a background in education shes not someone whos ever served in any education capacity as a principal as a superintendent as any type of School Leader as a teacher nothing assistant teacher somebody who volunteered in a classroom to go on down the list shes never had the experience but she is someone who is wrote big checks to Charter Schools and weve seen over and over her you know need for privatization of schools but theres Something Else that is an undercurrent here when it comes to the priorities because as you know there are several acts that were designed from the federal level to give more money to Public Schools the cares act the heroes act being among them those were never fully funded so k. 12. 00 education is lacking a lot of funding from the federal level the local level and the state level and right now estimates show that it would take up to 500000000000. 00 in allocation just for the special Education Needs of students to be met alone right now you know theyre asking for 500000000000. 00 theyre not even getting 1000000000 wow its amazing too because as you said you know you always hear you know politicians running whether federal or state talking about education and thats what they run on the campaign trail more money to education all that stuff but its amazing when you look at the actual percentage of members of schools who are being funded absolutely 87 percent of schools in america are not funded adequately at the state level and that means that where where do you pick up that huge shortfall in the budget at the local level and they do that by property taxes and if youre. Somebody who grows up in an impoverished or Poor Community or community where there are more runners than there are homeowners your schools dont have that funding those property tax dollars are a lot lower and that helps to set the standard between schools that are in wealthier areas or upper middle class areas versus those that are largely underserved underprivileged or areas that are black and brown and the free market is going to change because as we talked about on this show as youve talked about most lenders arent given out home loans to folks who live in that area to begin with the so theyre being go there is no thats not going to change anytime soon unless people get together as a community through the government or through the elected politicians that we that we lead to aware of these things and want to change these things for real thats the only way were going to see that change absolutely so its kind of a selffulfilling prophecy but you know who is still funded a very high levels regardless of being in black and brown impoverished communities and the police.
