Weeks of a downward trajectory many agree with the president to open the economy as there seems to be a push from the right and for many in the economic sector to do just that but theres also another if not equal push from the other side that saying that opening the economy would be both dangerous and irresponsible and that is the thinking of many in the Public Health sector and many on the left now whos right well were going to bring you a debate on this matter to take up whats going on but before we do i do want to share some numbers with you that i think might kind of help to put things in perspective numbers dont lie usually so lets talk economy 1st as the economy goes heres the latest 22000000 americans have lost their jobs that would bring the Unemployment Rate to a record 15 percent and according to economists this is huge it could reach 20 percent. That if the present trends continue in a word dismal right now lets look at lethality or some call it mortality or the death rate or whatever you want to call it its the death rate from the corona virus so so so so far it is about 1000 people a day who have died from the corona virus sounds like a lot 1000 americans and significant but what is the normal death rate in the United States its about 8000 per day heres another important question that i think helps give context all of this right who is the coronavirus actually killing well the best study we have at least the most conclusive comes from will and china the china Study Concludes 15 percent of the people who are in their eightys who contract a virus will die its actually 14. 00 but rounding off 15 percent only one percent of those who come down with it if theyre in their fiftys will die and by the way if youre under 40 your odds are minimal about point 2 percent so numbers wise and comparatively speaking coronavirus does not seem as lethal as some maybe had expected however and heres the real catch the number of those sick and dying would happen and could be happening so fast and in such a short period of time that its too fast for health care and the infrastructure of health care to be able to handle it without being overwhelmed meaning that many of those people could die and they would die simply because our nation is not able to give them proper care this is not an easy call by any stretch of the imagination. Were going to debate were going to talk about some of these facts some of these important details and were going to tell you right here this is the plan we have been sent this from the white house to share with you and were going to do it because we believe its time to do news again. All right here we go the questions we think were going to be asking should the economy be opened sooner or later and how we may have the answer to that least in part also whats the World Health Organization how did it become so controversial and what happened with an isis terrorist plot in germany once again we do want to remind you that all this week weve been dedicating ourselves to bringing you a special coverage of the corona virus with updates from around the world that everything you need to know to be prepared for yourself or your family and we call it tracking the coronavirus all right lets get going here this is important. I know a lot of you want this information moments ago the white house on veiled its suggestions for opening the economy by the way the port word there suggestions i believe we have part of what the president had to say joe kevin do we have that lets go play. The battle continues but the data suggests that they should wide we have passed the peak on new cases hopefully that will continue and we will continue to make great progress these encouraging developments have put a sort of very strong position to finalize guidelines for states and reopening the country. All right here we go this is the plan im going to just take you through it because it literally is hot off the press right. Heres how its going to work is going to be 3 phases each phase will be determined on whether we can have a 2 week trajectory of a downward trend in other words fewer hospitalizations fewer deaths that kind of that kind of material will be going into the equation so heres phase one which could be in some states in some locales as soon as 2 weeks from now if the trajectory is low there but not in all states ready if in 2 weeks the trajectory is low phase one will essentially say workers can start to go back to work in america thats the beginning returned to work in phases close common areas in work areas in other words if you work in a place where people congregate those areas have to be in some places closed nonessential travel and c. D. C. Guidelines will be issued following travel it sounds like thats not a big change there strongly consider special accommodations for the vulnerable population and continue to encourage tele work schools and organized activities remain close large venues sporting activities movie theaters etc can begin to operate. In under strict physical distancing protocols gyms can open gymnasium if they adhere to strict a physical distance and bars no go they have to remain closed all right then if that goes into effect and we have 2 weeks of straight downward trajectory then we go into phase 2 heres phase 2 in phase 2 nonessential travel can resume what else is different about phase 2 ok here we go schools youth activities can reopen large venues can operate under moderate physical distancing protocols elective surgeries that have been canceled can continue under circumstances jim jim can reopen and bars can start to open again with diminished ending room occupancy and here we go if after they go to phase 2 the downward trajectory continues we go to phase 3 phase 3 is essentially this. Resumed public interactions but should practice physical distancing bars can open with increased standing room occupancies places of worship gyms can continue to open so thats a guideline for what the white house is telling the states that they can now start to do under this new plan joining me now is the cohost of watching the hawks i mean across and from the other side of the spectrum is a ned ryan conservative commentator and former president ial writer for george w. Bush guys im glad youre there thats the information i gave you kind of the headlines it sounds like theres an intent to get things going again. Im going to begin with you by mentioning that the president did see that its up to governors he wont make the call hes only making guidelines and recommendations you say what. Actually and i actually think that. This was probably one of President Trump stronger press conferences he stayed on target he stayed on message this does come down to governors i like their approach the more macro level as well hes looking at the fact that you know even some areas this is going to be a county by county specific specific release of things going back to normal so i think that that matters but we also have to really Pay Attention to some of these target areas when were talking about the magic track and that was something i was really excited to hear someone who has a grandmother who is in one of these Nursing Homes it matters that those who are working around her are going to be tracked in terms of you know whether they have symptoms or not even though they fall outside of the age range of those probably be you know morse acceptable the other thing that im really worried about though is that should we even with this babys in go go about things as though older people dont matter because we keep hearing about being dismissed that just because youre older youre not necessarily producing anything for america anymore so you can probably just pass away stay at home but the issue with that is that a lot of families are introducing racial to their grandparents who live in the same homes as their kids and their and their grandkids so when you have kids who are going out and doing sporting activities or going to the movies or whatever their race magic they come back home grandma is going to get it anyway so to a certain extent i think that we still have to be a little bit more cautious when it comes to deciding whos going to be out here in the public and whos not but also recognizing that there are im you know suppressed people and people who have another conditions like diabetes or not elderly individuals at all you know ned i want to bring you into this i got the sense that there was a collective relief whether the president s right or wrong im not going to make that judgment but that there was a collective sense of relief over america that there was at least now a light at the end of the tunnel do you agree. You know absolutely rick i think part of the problem that a lot of people had of the last 4 or 5 weeks is when is this and when do we see light at the end of the tunnel and so for him to lay out the phases you know the phase 123 and say theres about 2 weeks in each one of those phases he even said i thought was encouraging regularly pointed out about 30 percent of the counties havent reported a new case in the last 7 days he thinks dozens of states are going to get gated right into phase one almost immediately so theyre going to be dozens of states that i do think are going to be reopening for business the 1st part of may and i think this is a commonsense approach rick i mean the fact that hes encouraging telecommuting that hes saying lets keep the social distancing restaurants movie theaters open up with you know strict social distancing i mean this is the right approach i think but it gives people hope because they realize this isnt going to go on for another 6 months or 12 months or 18 months were going to take a right to and i have to tell you im not the biggest fan of dr fallacy but the fact that dr fauci said were going to go down this path at the same time be very realistic if we start to see trends in the wrong direction we can pull back a little bit i agree with that so i think this is the right approach we give people hope we reopen we try to get the economy going asap because youre right 22000000 people out of jobs and 4 weeks is a staggering Staggering Number is the president right i mean show when he says you know continuing what were doing now may end up killing people as well hes right theres only. So they cant yet here this is something that disturbs me when he says it is that this seems like the 1st time the president has really hunkered down on Mental Health and Mental Health issues there as a matter of fact the past 45 years are suicide rate has grown exponentially in that coronavirus so if were going to really Pay Attention we also have to look at the fact that and the level theres been money that has been taken away taken away from the states in terms of funding for these mental youre. Going to be there that your points a good one but i think the broader point that the president in this case is trying to make and others by the way im. Trying to carry water for the president here is that when when somebody has no job when somebody cant pay their mortgage when somebody cant pay their rent when somebody feels like theyre going to lose their house i mean this is really drastic stuff were talking 1929 right now. Yes no thats right i mean you see that you see the rate when joblessness increases you see rates of suicide alcoholism other diseases kicking in i mean this is this is one of those trends that again ive been pretty outspoken on this of the last few weeks that weve got to find an end weve got to find a way to get back to normal because if we dont the suicides in the bankruptcys are going to exceed the number of actual coronavirus deaths have been a cure will be worse than the disease and so hes right if we continue much further down this path again i dont think 22000000 is the right number i think its much higher rate can be in real numbers so weve got to figure out how to get back as soon as possible and again im going to highlight this again as well Congress Needs to get down to business on the pay payroll Protection Plan and get another 250000000000 for these Small Businesses give them a little more breathing room so that by the 1st of june people can really be cranked up and get back to mostly normal again but they need a little more breathing room rick quick question the both of you because were down to a minute so i want to start with you with me show me if you were a democratic governor lets say the governor of new york of the governor of california would you be encouraged by these guidelines that the president has put out. If i was the governor of new york i know that theres a lot more work to be done there their numbers are still astronomically high same with california if i was the governor of illinois my home state i think the the approach is extremely smart you know are working with each other in collaborative effort and thats probably the smartest thing let me give the last 20 seconds to ned if you were greg abbott in texas would you be encouraged by what the president did and said today republican yeah absolutely you know absolutely i think he and i think governor to save arizona were already headed down this path so it shows that he can trump and do see and i know other red state governors. On the same page moving the same direction so its encouraging sign knowing the federal level but at the state level as well i think were headed in the right direction theres hope lets reopen the economy lets get back to business all right its breaking news thats the story those are the guidelines and theres the reaction from 2 of the smartest people we could gather to take you through it my thanks to both of you very much appreciate it youre watching the news with rick sanchez news as it happens here youre watching us on your favorite provider or perhaps on portable t. V. Either way were glad youre there and well be right back. The stories that were told to this point are going to seem dated instantly and were going to have a whole busy new generation of storytelling moving forward our very definition of what a hero is one of knowingness whats says all of that changes moving into the future our home value system aside shifted and changed. Journey has changed Many American lives but pharmaceutical companies have a miraculous solution. Based drugs the people who are chronic pain and believe that their prescription is working for them and the remedy be certain to. Price that they pay closer dependency an addiction to opiates to long term use that really isnt scientifically justified and ill study actually suggested that the long term effects might not just be absence of benefit but actually that they might be causing long term. Childs seemed wrong all right old roles just dont call. Me old yet to say how does they become agitated and engagement equals betrayal. When so many find themselves worlds apart when she stood up for common ground. Part of it im rick sanchez there has been so much about the World Health Organization lately and much of it has been very critical even the president went on the attack against it this week for many things actually but he does describe it in one and some terms as favoring china over the United States who is the w. H. O. Why is it there where did it start how did it start and suddenly why is it so doggone controversial right and ours correspondent Michelle Greenstock sets out to explain. This week u. S. President donald trump announced that hes temporarily halting funding to the uns World Health Organization founded after world war 2 its the u. N. Agency responsible for international Public Health and the recent decision to halt funding has sparked a debate on whether or not the organization is as President Trump suggests bias towards china w. H. O. Like any Organization Needs money and china does contribute money to its budget but china is only the 16th largest contributor to the w. H. O. Budget a significant portion of the money comes from nongovernment entities for example after the United States government the largest funder of the w. H. O. Is the bill and Melinda Gates foundation the largest private foundation on earth the next top private donor is the Global Alliance for vaccines which the Gates Foundation helped set up and which is reliant on Gates Foundation funding to this day turn on pretty much any news program these days and youll find bill gates whose philanthropy has made himself an expert in Infectious Diseases were gates is seen as a voice to listen to because in 2015 he gave a ted talk warning that the world was unprepared for the next outbreak but its possible that the priorities of the Gates Foundation arent the same as the objective progression of Global Health oh you are showing us how often i mean. They are going to have comes from an industry. The single biggest. After the United States the single biggest contributor is its. Ability Gates Foundation. Which has a very close relationship to ours. And has goals that are almost realigned with humans free so why is the United NationsWorld Health Organization forced to rely on a private organization for such a significant portion of its funding according to Global Health watch the fundamental challenge at play here is a chronic Funding Crisis a lack of public funding has made the w. H. O. Turn to private sources and while in the early period after the organizations formation required contributions from u. N. Member states where the majority of its budget by 20162017 that number had fallen to 20 percent even the former w. H. O. Director general has noted in the past that her budget is driven by what she calls donor interests the w. H. O. Needs money and it gets it where it can including from private organizations but its only once donor control is broken that a Global Institution like the w. H. O. Conserve its intended purpose for the news of rick sanchez Michele Greenstein our team and theres this this is kind of a head turner was there a plan to blow up a u. S. Military installation amid all this for militants described as members of isis have been arrested in germany of planning to do just that here now with this special report is already correspondent john hardy. Federal prosecutors in germany said Tactical Police stormed the homes of the 4 suspected isis militants early wednesday morning in the town of wearable located in the Western State of north rhine was folly or theyre accused of being part of an isis terror cell in germany and are said to be citizens of touching a stand who are planning to carry out an attack on an American Military base in their country but instead shifted the plans to target u. S. Air force bases in Germany Police say the 4 men were in contact with 2 high ranking isis figures in syria and afghanistan helping to coordinate the attack plans and that the group had weapons ammunition and bomb making materials one of the men also reportedly had a 40000. 00 contract to assassinate someone in albania but the hit failed the Associated Press reported the attacks included someone who the group said was critical of islam though not much more is known the berlin spectator reports that up to 350. 00 Police Officers were involved in the operation and that quote one of the men was collecting manuals for building bombs and making in cindy area devices the group ordered some components for that purpose online further that the suspected militants collected money all over germany with some of the funds being sent via isis agents in turkey its further confirmation that isis or its supporters remain active in various parts of the world particularly syria where on march 29th isis members broke out of a syrian prison by reportedly ripping off the doors and using them to break down a wall during a riot its unclear if the men were caught killed were made on the run last week isis militants attacked Kurdish Peshmerga post just outside of baghdad killing 2 kurdish fighters another isis battlefront and also remains active for the news with rick sanchez john hardy. By the way just to show that were following all the news thats going on out there and also following the coronavirus lets go to go through the global koran about update the. Ask this is being manned by none other than ben swan one of the best weve got which got. A record couple big things happening then you know you had a great conversation of the beginning of the show about all the things president saying about you know getting a couple of weeks of trajectory in the right direction where but it is worth noting and we dont like to throw a lot of numbers at you but it is worth noting that in the last 2 days weve actually seen record high numbers of deaths associated with the coronavirus so the numbers are trending in the wrong direction in terms of that in fact if you take a look at these numbers here heres what we know that on wednesday we saw at least 2371 new deaths from the corona virus putting the amount in the United States was number of deaths over 30030800 that actually broke the one day record that came the day before on tuesday of 2364 so hopefully we start trending in the right direction but those numbers certainly not promise from considering all that was talked about you know i think what you just said speaks to the fact that these guidelines are not written to go into effect now theyre written to go into effect when we see the downward trajectory thats what makes your point such an important one at this point that in new york no way chicago no way right parts of l. A. Right away but in other parts of the country they may be able to go and who knows maybe 234 weeks right. Yeah you know i so i got to say this and its a little off script here but ive been talking to a lot of doctors over the last couple of weeks about this and a couple different scientists about it and theyre telling me the same thing which is this that when everything reopens when the economy does reopen there will be another surge of cases its going to happen because it is a virus will not be eradicated it will spike again so the question is how do you manage it after the fact you cant just go from where in this position to the next day say its all good it all went away it doesnt just go away like that let me give you a historical reference because i have been doing a Little Research on this and like most people ive been curious ive been reading about the 1918 spanish flu that there were 3 cycles in that one and after folks were told things were coming down they went out again and the 2nd cycle was worse than the 1st so you know buyer beware. You know thats absolutely true and then one other kind of interesting note because you know as this is all happening theres a lot of pressure coming from people as some of your guest talked about who dont have jobs right now or who are not working and saying we need to get back to work as a result of some of these stay at home orders or actually been to lawsuits filed in the last couple of days one against the governor of michigan russian whitmer and then also one against Gavin Newsome in california the one in california was actually filed by a group of pastors who say that this order that says that church is not essential therefore people cannot go to church is unconstitutional in michigan theyre saying that were is basically overreaching in every way including saying you can go to the store but you cant buy what she calls nonessential goods like paint or plant yeah no youre so right this is such an interesting part of the story who decides and how what makes one thing as sensual over d Something Else and i got i got to make a comment thread if we had one person of common sense is not the same as anothers i just wonder if thats right bad i didnt mean it at the last the last thing you know and then you have one of your guests. Talking about getting more help he said a little more breathing room for Small Businesses getting more money into that program the s. B. A. Program is officially out of money and banks have started notifying Small Businesses that theres nothing there so its not just giving Small Businesses more breathing room there are tens of millions of Business Owners who so far rick have gotten nothing 0 so at this point its not about giving them more breathing room its trying to make good on some of this and as we talked about over the last couple of days you had almost 60000000000. 00 given to the Airline Industry for a handful of companies and you have millions of small Business Owners right now who are being told sorry theres no money left and if the government keeps handing out money to everybody what thats going to do is make the price of goods get so high that we could be looking at hyper inflation this is not rick sanchez talking im not an economist this is about 80 to 90 percent of every single economist out there who is making that prediction am i wrong or right no youre absolutely right but at the same time if you look at whats happening with a lot of Small Businesses remember they were promised just 2 and a half months tell us what you had in terms of rent utilities and payroll youre not even getting that and meanwhile you have Companies LikeAmerican Airlines that are getting 5800000000. 00 plus loan guarantees ben shawn hes smart and hes got great hair. Here i mean. Its very easy to go over very good as usual wow what a day what a newscast a lot of moves a lot of news moving i should say and were so glad that you trust us to bring it to you im rick sanchez well look for you again when its time to tears or killed. Market which i think is a great market to give an indication of where prices are where theyre heading the fact that fine art of the big is in other auction houses has gone up dramatically over the past 10 or 1520 years spectacularly so its not reflected in the price of bread until it hits and now its starting to be that way so that inflation that we saw in the High End Products is going to end up being in the staples like wheat bread the food chicken i just saw somebody post a image of a chicken for sale somewhere that price was 100 percent.
