A lot of people have been led to believe that at some designated time some magical time we will all receive some type of signal like that from authorities and everything is just going to go back to normal folks thats not going to happen in fact nothing could be further from the truth and ill give you an example the spanish flu of 1800 came in 3 different waves and it changed the world 1st of all it went on for 2 full years it changed how people lived and it also changed the business of health care with governments all over the world realizing it needed to somehow be a little more centralized so im bringing this to your attention today because Gavin Newsome the governor of the biggest state in america has come out to explain for the very 1st time how our lives will change because of the coronavirus this is important stuff right one example he cites get this. Yes we will be able to go out again and to restaurants but only after your temperature is taken before you enter the restaurants. Just like the people who work there will have to do the waiters will be forced to wear gloves you will be state spaced out by between 2 to 3 tables the menu youre going to read for it from it if they give you if they give you a menu if not youll be reading it from your cell phone that you bring in yourself but if they give you a paper menu it has to be thrown away disposed of the moment youre done reading it and then after youve picked it up so look this is just this is just one chapter in the new normal book that we will all soon have to learn why well because as we mentioned right here yesterday when we broke this story during our coronavirus update with our correspondent ben swan its going to likely take get this 12 to 18 months to lock down a vaccine he said again 12 to 18 months and this will be the only way that governments can slow start to reopen the economy keyword there is slowly all right were going to take you through this as we go because 1st of all this is a very important conversation that were going to have here on the news with rick sanchez where we believe its time to do news again. Ok here we go 3 minutes after the hour time for the questions we think youll be asking tomorrow how our lives are going to change and for how long do major u. S. Airlines deserve to be bailed out well guess what it is the New York Times coronavirus attack on russia founded on facts. All this week you know were going to be bringing you special coverage of the corona virus and updates from around the world everything you need to know to protect yourself and your family we call it tracking coronavirus. The spanish flu changed the world both d at the micro and at the macro level did you know that maybe youve been reading about it a little bit i know i have at the micro level it changed how people all over the world learn to avoid bacteria and germs and viruses at the macro level it made governments realize that health care is communal right. So governments all over the world for the 1st time started to centralize health care as a common good not just one person one doctor weve expanded coverage on this beginning with the announcement from the governor of california so lets get started with our correspondent from our west coast from l. A. Heres a tweet. The next phase the phase that i want to speak to all of you today about is a face that i would frame as an optimistic phrase partnering with oregon and Washington State california governor Gavin Newsome laying out 6 goals before lifting stay at home orders on the 3 west coast states the most important framework is our capacity to expand our testing to a propre atlee address the tracing and tracking of individuals the isolation in the corner of individuals using technology and using a workforce that needs to be trained in an infrastructure that needs to be in place new some says the main goal theyre looking for right now is the flattening of hospital numbers before rolling back stay at home orders but things wont look exactly the way they used to once the state reopens waitstaff at restaurants for instance will likely be Wearing Masks and gloves schools could stagger start times to help implement social distancing large gatherings including concerts or sporting events may be off limits california has been under a state wide stay at home order since march 19th since then more than 2000000. 00 golden state residents have filed for Unemployment Benefits and despite new sums announcement of collaborating with the governors of oregon and washington to eventually reopen the economy he failed to provide specifics or a timeline of when the states nearly 40000000 can expect to return to work Los Angeles County is the states largest with 10000000. 00 residents it has 40 percent of coping 1000. 00 cases and nearly half the deaths mayor Eric Garcetti says. Residents are doing what they can to keep the numbers down but a spike in coronavirus cases continues and today the worst news that we have received. Is that 40 new angelenos passed away 40 deaths is the most that we have experienced in a single 24 hour period the spread of the virus throughout california remains and even some even highly Populated Areas are reporting low totals some Rural Counties only a handful of cases and some with none at all in the meantime adequate testing and continual social distancing are what local leaders stressed the most reporting in los Angeles Natasha suites r t so here is the obvious question is the new normal coming in whats it really going to look like this is fascinating stuff joining us now is a former colleague of mine at n. B. C. News where he and i both d Work Together and hes branded the term science and medical correspondent i mean this is the 1st one who ever actually held back title hes considered one of the true deep thinkers in both medicine and journalism babar not is good enough to join us now and to talk about this i should say dr bob hart not but i figured that was how good to see you look great you to be great to see you and here we are talking about Something Like this i cant help but i cant wait to get in your head on this how do you think our lives are going to change. I think in a really interesting ways i think you have to look forward rather than look backward example were up here in a lovely stowe vermont my fiance is working overtime full time you know Stanford University found that workers at home are actually more productive and i think would bosses start to find out that theyre getting more out of their employees theyre on tap 24 hours a day they dont have to pay for office space that things are going to change its very interesting in terms of opening up these states because i agree with some of it i disagree with a lot 1st and foremost you know you have to be. Able to do this contact case tracing this is the heart of how they beat epidemics like it was in an epidemic uganda for ebola is an example and until you are able to do that and the background testing be clear right now you can test for active disease how many people have in a population we have no idea and they were saying today that you know all the all the School Children are already infected once you have a test for the antibodies the i. G. G. And the i. G. F. Antibodies its a completely different game so we we i mentioned just a little while ago that gavin newsom is saying from now on if you go to one of the restaurants in california im sorry were just going to have to take your temperature we have to throw away the menu after you touch it talk about a new game were going to live in a new paradigm are we how many other things you think are just going to change the way we live bob. Tremendously you know until they have some kind of active therapeutic serve actually the change tremendously but theyre you know i dont think that hes really thinking about this you know like we did after 911 after 911 look at the Security Industries that came into place like you say being stood up its going to be a whole lot more sophisticated for instance lets say you are critical wing section of boeing what you do is you take 3 to workers put them in a omarion hotel for a week make sure they are all totally clear you havent come out work like a 2 week shift like they were in an oil rig and come back so that you completely clear now the idea of taking tables temperatures a little silly not say why. You know 25 percent of people are spreading this virus they have no symptoms they have absolutely no idea that they have it School Children maybe the Biggest School big super spreaders they go to school they have no idea they have it they have no symptoms at all they spit at their parents their parents bring it back to work so its going to take a much more sophisticated deep think than we are right now but you know i think even today rick we could be opening up industries were not thinking about when you do you know in areas like for instance here in vermont we have very very few cases. So you could start to open up critical and is what we want to be careful about this is whats great about talking to you dr bob what youre describing what youre describing is a protocol and a strategy and an infrastructure i hear it coming out of your mouth but i dont hear any government officials describing this and this is what the future is going to look like where is the play again. Well there isnt a flat but you happen to have this kind of deep think you have to think about you know what distressed me so much early on is you had government officials get up say wash your hands or you know ok in the new york subway you know sure we talk about this virus speed spread by cough or sneeze you know its really spread took it if i talk and drop thats coming out of my mouth and youre 3 of feet away youre going to get this virus well see much more sophisticated mask were probably going to look a little bit like darth vader in the. Onboard systems that are my enemy of the term when used to use back in our day when people would do that say it dont spray it great stuff. But bob are not a want to what a pleasure to bring you back and youre going to do this again by the way youve got an open invitation i would love to read my favorite t. V. Journalist along with larry kane but. Bob are not what a pleasure thank you my friend will see again very sort of beg your ex really is to be able to smile even during these difficult times while you are watching the news with rick sanchez were trying to provide all the information we can possibly bring to you on portable t. V. Whether wherever youre watching our special coverage will continue in just a little bit stay with us. Its seemed wrong. But old rules just dont hold. Any you didnt get to shake out just because the ticket and engagement equals betrayal. When so many find themselves worlds apart. Just to look for common ground. Has changed american lives but pharmaceutical companies have a miraculous solution. Based drugs for the people who are chronic pain patients believe that theyre ok prescription is working for them on the remedy he says to the price that they pay closer dependency and addiction to opiates the long term use that really isnt scientifically just now study actually suggest that. The long term effects my not just being the absence of benefit but actually that they might be causing long term. The world is driven by a dream shaped by. The dairy thinks. We dare to ask. And welcome back to those of you watching us all over the world on your regular providers or. One of the apps portable t. V. For example we welcome you im rick sanchez 2 years ago 2 years ago airlines got a 1000000000. 00 in tax breaks and their c. E. O. s pocketed much of the money by giving themselves. Im going to say tax breaks but these were huge tax breaks right it bloomed our deficit to more than one trillion dollars a Year Airlines used more than 90 percent of that money of its own cashflow stay with me here 90 percent of it to buy back their own stocks 90 percent of their cash flow thats if you have a business and every time a dollar comes in you stick it in your pocket right American Airlines they were the worst man you know what they did they bought 15000000000 dollars back knowing that one cant help but ask the following question as an american should should should airlines be bailed out after we know what they did and how much they got most people would look at this and say no of course not you know anybody else who did that would be buoyed right well guess what theyre being bailed out but its happening in kind of a complex way joining us now is somebody who can explain this to us i think george down an. Expert investor hes extremely prolific around you to me and about tens of thousands of other people watch him. Way it do at least i watch it twice a week. So here is George Gammon joining us live here on the news with rick sanchez george take it away explain to us as best you can. What the government did with this bailout and whether its fair or not. Is that what depends on if you approve of capitalism yeah so if youre a fan of free market capitalism then no it wasnt right it wasnt fair what the fed did is they set up all d these 4 letter programs and theyve even extended them to 5 letter programs and i think its just a way to create all this alphabet soup type stuff to confuse the average joe and jane out there on the street in main street and that really what theyre doing is bailing out these corporations to your point and in a free market capitalist society that really gets stronger through not only profit but loss as well Milton Friedman talked about this a lot back in the 1970 s. And the 1980 s. We listen to him back then but for some reason were not listening to him now do you understand what were doing with this bailout is it sounds like its been put together in such a way so its not direct money its like free credit is that right. Well theres a couple different bailouts so the government comes in and theyre doing the stimulus package has 2 trillion im sure will go up from there but then the Federal Reserve comes in and backstops the corporation with setting up all these alphabet soup types of programs i was referring to earlier so its basically where they extended a line of credit to the corporations not just the airlines but pretty much everyone in the entire s. And p. So if they need to get extra cash to meet their bills or for whatever liquidity reasons they have that the feds right there to be the lender of last resort but unfortunately now rick theyre the buyer of last resort from the standpoint of theyre not just setting up loans theyre also going into the market and proactively buying e. T. S. So its it started with just Investment Grade corporate debt but now its junk corporate debt and i dont think theres a limit to this a lot of the professionals that i see on c. N. N. B. B. C. Or some of the talking heads out there they look at what the fed is doing today as though thats what theyre going to be doing for the next 6 months and i just see it totally differently i see the fed as looking at the economy as something thats propped up by asset bubbles a massive amount of debt in confidence and theyre saying to themselves ok how can we keep this going how can we kick the can further down the road and whatever its going to take for them do that thats exactly what theyre going to do so what you just said is that were going to continue just feeding the beast and feeding the beast and feeding the beast with helicopter money from now until what the 4 see it on foreseeable future kingdom come what. Well until we get inflation and thats really the kryptonite for the Federal Reserve because if you look at their toolkit if you will it really boils down to Interest Rates and money printing and if we start to get inflation going up to 10 percent 12 percent like we did in the 1970 s. The fed can print any more money because it just exacerbate that problem so i think thats the end game thats yeah wow well done as usual George Gammon thank you george appreciate having you on no problem. Tonight i want to address an article which has appeared in the New York Times which is actually quite puzzling because why by now we all know that the media landscape right now has changed and unfortunately not for the better in a funny way its both fragmented and centralized and neither in a good way fragmented because there is news from the right the extreme right the left the extreme left right now there are networks that do nothing but bash china others that do nothing but bash trump some who support trump some more reporting crazy unsourced inaccurate stories about this covert 19 virus and some if not most who report on the virus through an ideological or political lens thats the media that were living in right now that a good may not be and it may be ugly but its what we have its what we have right now heres whats weird given that landscape that i have just drawn for you the New York Times has published a story that seems to suggest theres really only one bad out there out there in the entire world when it comes to information and guess who it is guess who it is im going to give you 3 guesses and the 1st 2 dont count thats right russia russia. In this article the New York Times suggest that russia in fact president Vladimir Putin himself is using this information to encourage the spread of deadly viruses around the world thats the 1st lead thats the 1st paragraph in the article sounds pretty serious right so whats the source material that supports this is unbelievable acclimation right well according to the article its a twitter account unnamed sources unnamed experts unnamed and analysts unnamed. Get the picture the article by the way starts with president putin as a juicy leader of course but then it goes on to include us here i guess r t america it says this quote the kremlins audience for open this information is surprisingly large the you tube videos of r t russias Global Television Network Average 1000000 views per day the highest among all news outlets according to a u. S. Intelligence report since the founding of the Russian Network in apartment 2005 its videos have received more than 4000000000 views analysts recently concluded so there you have it russia and russia alone is responsible for the descent from ation as it relates to the corona virus and i guess we here are a part of it so says so says the New York Times. Joining us now Jesse Ventura who is the governor of the great state of minnesota where i went to college and got my journalism degree also joining us is George Galloway who was a member of the British Parliament from scotland my thanks to both of you matt i guess ill just open it up with you georgia get it started im sure you read the article by now what did you make of this. Well in my 30 years in parliament we have their draw are marked green ink because of the predeliction of crazed unhinged conspiracy theorists to write to you in green ink often in capital letters and ive read the article and it belongs in doubt draw are marked green ink it was actually unhinged unsourced. Actually contradictory if just one example of it uses not just russia book president putin himself. Pushing anti vaccination kind of medical stories i myself spend much of my life fighting against antiviral truth conspiracy theorists of all kinds and i am on our literally 7 days a week and i have a column on r. T. Dot com which is by the way the only journalistic outfit i have ever worked for that fact checks that comes back to me over and over and over again for sources of why i am actually saying in my call of source not just some truth its the opposite of the truth in my experience next theyll be telling us russia invented Racial Discrimination in america wait theyve already alleged us its hard not to take it a little personally although i know we should disassociate journalistically speaking from Something Like this but i kind of do because i work hard at my profession it does bother me that im sure our network is imperfect im sure weve made mistakes im sure weve done stories that i wish in hindsight wed looked at a different way but my god to think that were spreading 2 disinformation to try and spread viruses that kill people all over the world are you doing that governor ventura. No im certainly not and i take great offense to what the New York Times wrote i mean ive paid taxes to this country for over 50 years im on honorably discharged vietnam veteran from the United States navy ive been a mayor and ive been a governor and for them to and soon you wait that i would do something patriotic and against the United States of america to the level of that theyre talking about offends me greatly but rick we need to go back a couple years to my court case the one where i won against chris kyle the liar and i won in the. Went to the court of appeals who came in at that point the New York Times and 31 other big global media people because i won on something called unjust enrichment which means you cant profit from lying well they found 2 judgers that they could influence to overturn the case broke rules to do it which opened the door i think to fake news because now they could put out all the fake news they want and if youre harmed by that fake news they can profit from it and youre not entitled to anything thanks to our court system and the New York Times headed that list of i would challenge them right now what they just put out was fake news you know lets talk a little bit about george about the origin of this because i think sometimes you as a journalist are we as journalists are the product of our sources right who is giving them this information where from and for what reason george. It has to be deep state. Of the lobbyists lobbyists for countries that are hostile to russia for example deep stay operatives that feed on their dripping roast of International Confrontations and the expenditure of state expenditure on weapons on military and intelligence that produces some get big you know the more antagonism and confrontation there is in the so let me just stop it let me just have let me let me throw them so let me stop you for a minute cause what you just said is really important to make sure the viewer gets it there are people whose jobs rely on antipathy with countries like russia and they need the antipathy the aggression to continue their by this story good for their jobs good for their sales thats what you just said. Absolutely it boosts budgets gay. Extra bodies in the in the department the more you can engender about this country all preferably. Now with the left wing hating rush on the right wing hating china. Jesse ventura George Galloway my thanks to both of you we appreciate it. And that is our news and we want to thank you so much for being with us if youre looking for a newscast its not like the rest are here you can always find a. Portable t. V. Just. For the top of the.
