We just seem laid out a lot of bills lots of. Losing muscle from native people using. The piano to. Let them have anything you can hold up. To the who thinks. That all of the war. Or the. Only dealing in the muslim world as a full book you can sit around and stuff it and ship them through that is a room is the meat of. Human activity has brought us to the brink of the worlds 6th major extinction of it and the people in this film just come take it anymore. Greetings and sally you take the yes way hawk watchers what and what time we are living in to welcome you all back yes my friends we are back with new shows right in time for the true coronavirus chaos to begin here in the United States of america at least thats what the white house and Trump Administration are finally admitting after weeks and weeks of really bad really no no no its really bad you know easter is going to be you know big league open for business but but seriously its really bad state home button. And staying at home is exactly what many of us across the country are doing staying at home and going on strike yes in recent days weve seen average u. S. Citizens from all walks of life suddenly spring to life as they are rising up against the many forms of financial oppression they face in these very oppressive times across the country from california to new york city and a great many cities in between on april 1st many of them more than 40000000. 00 who wrote rent homes and apartments the United States are taking part in rent strikes with hashtag rent strike trending social media pages have been filled with pictures of strikers hanging white sheets from their windows and showing their neighborhood then the world that they will not be paying rent during this time of crisis casey james out of atlanta who is advocating and organizing that no 1. 00 pay rent until the pandemic ends somethings up pretty simply to the Washington Post stating its not fair everything is shut down you cant work our mayor says stay home dont go outside but were expected were expected to pay the cost of subsidizing landlords if were really in this disaster everything should be frozen. Meanwhile things are not well on the good ship amazon his employees are staging walkouts and strikes at warehouses in chicago Staten Island and beyond in response to not only the companys allegedly sub par coronavirus Safety Measures but also for their brutal treatment and public slandering of any worker who calls attention to it. The trumpet ministration says this week will be like pearl harbor and 911. 00 of the death and tragedy front but could this week also bring us a new generations of battle of Cripple Creek or mickeys rock strike lets find out as we start watching. Whats going on a cd. Player so you. See that this is joyce state. Great city this ladys systemic deception is so but shes. So pretty so youll. Want to watch a. Little girl and i think its a cross boy oh boy i mean not only are we seeing this kind of oppressive time and were seeing people staying indoors but were also seeing people rise up we absolutely are and i dont think that there could be a better time because amid all of this disaster we also solve the white house and a lot of the Congress Members go back and forth about what a relief package what a stimulus package would look like and now weve seen at least the 1st round or the 3rd let them tell it of the stimulus package nobody has seen a chick yet and the majority of folks who actually saw all the relief are going to be these major corporations we also saw that with the airlines got billions of dollars in terms of a bailout it leaves one of them has already laid off hundreds of thousands of employees its only expected something that congress should have actually put into into the stimulus package before they handed over that cash because one of the issues we always see is that. The government likes to bail out big business and those bailouts dont necessarily help the people who work for those businesses or the people who lives those services and i think that right now were seeing a lot of businesses taking advantage of workers particularly those essential workers that are working in your Grocery Stores the folks who are driving your the folks who are working in amazon and other other factory related businesses and arent really thinking about their health or their safety so it is high time that people take the streets will get it will take to the internet to get as much attention around this as possible i saw the great meme kind of come out of all this where you know it had a play on bruce willis and armageddon where its kind of like hey essential workers we never want to pay taxes again ever with you know the pledge because you know there are that needed but this is insane and you know what the demands of like lets say the chicago look at chicago Amazon Warehouse workers went on strike their demands are not terribly aggressive they say basic simple demand says cover medical bills for employees or family members who contract the coronavirus as a result of exposure at this warehouse suspend write ups based on the rate at which workers package and sort deliveries to ensure workers have enough time to actually practice safety precautions at the end maintain transparency about all the coronavirus cases that are out there where how that happened at the warehouse and soon as managers know about them thats pretty easy simple the measure to nestle theyre not asking for anything pie in the sky theyre not asking for anything theyre honestly not ask me for any extra free stuff either what they are asking for is. Basic access which youre talking about those who work for amazon what people have to realize is that over 70 percent of their workers are low wage workers or part to part time workers or contractors these are individuals who do not qualify for Health Insurance under amazon and these are the individuals who are making sure that everything you and anybody else across the globe is ordering gets to this because they have to be in those factories and theyre not getting their basic necessities and no theyre not and then when you go over to the rent side of this thing were seeing people said i cant pay rent people 1st and weve just passed up with it people start up saying what i got no job i got furloughed home are supposed to pay rent this is ridiculous and its not about like paying rent to somebody who owns a condo whos you know rents out to a few people you know these are big corporate landownership big corporate groups that own these apartments this is about saying standing up to a corporation saying im not just going to hand you money when i have them give exactly and in most of our Major Urban Centers the chicago the d. C. The l. A. Is what you do see is that a lot of these are a lot of runners are paying their cash to very large groups that multiple buildings in many cases across multiple cities at the same time these are individuals who are going to totally fall apart should they create some sort of relief for people who honestly can not come up with the money right now and not all of them are asking to not pay anything at all a lot of them are asking just for a little bit of extra time because they simply do not know what next week is going to look like what next month is going to look like and they know that they. Are still do but right now theyre making some really intense decisions a lot of that is whether you know the lights are going to stay on keeping food on the table their kids are at home and again a lot of these individuals do not have Health Insurance so theyre also trying to come up with the cost of those medical bills and that and that level of care i say i applaud them for standing up and saying no were not going to take this and just to quickly before we move on to the next subject of 34 states have actually issued extensive moratorium sort of actions but that still means they have to pay the backgrounds. That doesnt mean ok we wont get evicted but then you know 8 months from now theyre going to have like 2 months where they got to make up for and no one can afford about at the end of the day come on. Mandatory quarantine shelter in place stay at home however you phrase it the meaning is the same stay home save lives as the world continues to grapple with the realities of its latest invader at 19 the safest place should be your home but if you are a victim of Domestic Violence coronavirus the cautions put you directly in the crosshairs across the United States reports of Domestic Violence skyrocketed in the month of march in conjunction with the growing list of cities and acting stay at home wards Domestic Violence calls are increasing to Law Enforcement agencies are seeing double digit cases in calls across cities like houston charlotte chicago in phoenix the national Domestic Violence hotline a Lifeline Call Center averages 1800. 00 to 2000 calls per day. A perfect storm of desperation is growing for people rapid job loss job uncertainty for those still employed housing insecurity and rent pylons it just keeps getting worse and worse the Financial Stress alone creates an unhealthy environment leaving families with a history of Domestic Violence on the brink of disaster with many kids being home from school and college during the coronavirus pandemic young people have a lot to the abuse and assault as well to top it all what is being called pearl harbor week as the coronavirus backdrop consumes every part of our daily life Domestic Violence shelters are fighting to keep their doors open there has been no Government Stimulus Program despite our nations shelters at capacity and their fundraising capabilities. This is personal to my best friend and Sorority SisterMegan Montgomery was shot and killed by her estranged husband just a few months ago and my own little sister right now is fleeing Domestic Violence with my 4 year old nephew and 2 year old niece into as we battle coronavirus we have to also think about those fighting for their lives at home where shelter in place is no shelter at all. This is a great a great story a great subject matter that you brought you brought up today and we should because its one of those things i think we forget too quickly these are those things that slide through the cracks were saying oh i want to stay at home be safe from the virus will like as you pointed out what if theres potentially more dangerous or equal to the billions of catching the virus absolutely in a think but it poses so many issues because the whole meteorology around Domestic Abuse and abusers is that they want to path to isolate the people they have this gives them the perfect way to do so these individuals arent visiting family because they cant they arent interacting with friends they have no real escape and now they are cooped up in a home with this abuser 24 sevenths and what do you do where do you go how do you escape key. And you even call is that even safe because now this person is here watching you all day all day and then when you add when you add in those were talking earlier today when you add in the dangerous mix you know there mentioning you know the loss of wages the pressures of being under the you know idea of what any minute if i go outside and talk to the wrong person i could get sick and go you know good all that when you add to the mix to an already volatile situation the Domestic Abuse is this is this is something that we have to kind of figure out an answer for real quick because we cant keep going on like this we cant keep putting these people in danger like this absolutely and one of the other things we also know is that a lot of people who suffer from Domestic Violence of Domestic Abuse are also folks who have symptoms of depression anxiety and all of these other Mental Health issues that come from living a life of constant fear we also know that those individuals and the support that they need from Mental Health centers and theyre not getting were talking about the lack of money and the lack of attention paid to these the method violence shelters those Mental Health clinics and that support has all but been eradicated over the past 4 or 5 years and a lot of cities across the country where a lot of those places have completely shut down and right now the phone is ringing off the hook to get some type of assistance to those in need and you know and whenever you talk about these cases to you also talk about like a lot of the victims of Domestic Abuse are world one point able to use hotels air b. N. B. Places like that to run to your lease like hey can you give me some but i got to get out of their situation they get picked up drive already or be in the road so now thats not an option really its not there at all and weve seen air b. N. B. Extend itself to a lot of our frontline workers a lot of our nurses because they recognize that those people cant come in contact with their kids when they go home but we havent seen that sort of outreach to Domestic Violence victims so they dont have any place else to go except the home to stay in the home where theyre being abused every day and the standing of the even more saddening part is that many of those individuals who express who. Violence my sister being included 8 do their best to shelter their kids from it even when theyre in the same place either you know they will have somebody come pick them up they put them in daycare they put them in after School Programs all of these things to try to mitigate them actually seeing it live right now none of that is possible what what is the what is the way that you see someone not only who started this many years but also someone whos mentioned some of the family do it what is the way out what to do what can government do how can people help these people right now i think that they do and its tough because were seeing so its an Election Year and Election Year politics are always very wonky and difficult the reauthorizing the violence against womens act we need to do what we needed to do and yesterday i dont care who the president is what we know is that Domestic Violence is not respected blue or red it doesnt care what region of the country youre in and what region of the world youre in we need to get to a point where we are sounding the alarm where those people arent able to get guns right now that more we need to get to a point where we are providing a safe haven we need to increase the amount of funding to those Domestic Violence shelters particularly to organizations who help to how those individuals who are basically on the run from these abusive situations and fully recognize it and i say this because my dear for in last her life 2 days after thanksgiving she had in her possession a in order to keep him away from her he came 2 weeks later pulled her out of a restaurant and shot her in the back 3 times so its a problem for me when people think that you just going to the police and then giving you a restraining order is going to protect you because that does not work its a great thing to do but it doesnt mean that your life is going to everybody as we go to break remember that you can also start watching the hawks on demand to brand new portable t. Join me every thursday on the alex simon show and ill be speaking to guest on the world of politics sports business im showbusiness ill see that. This is a story of women and women with troubled histories and complex cold cases we know some of us deadly leave who lives out there. Where night. Is the person that theres a cheesiness and b. They are considered the most dangerous of criminals shes in a still. Well below 23 hours of the day tell me that its not enough punishment it will give women on death row. The world is driven by a dream shaped by one percent of those great. Dares thinks. We dare to ask. Its an Election Year and though coronavirus threats have taken over life as we know it here in the usa theres always time for politics new York Governor Andrew Cuomo has provided such stellar covert 19 daily briefings that Many Democrats want to draft him for the presidency and others see him as a sure fire v. P. Pick President Trump is using his daily briefings as pseudo Campaign Rallies speaking directly to his base using the colorful language hes become known for and of course attacking journalists every chance he gets former Vice President biden is the living addresses via social media from his basement and every day more and more responsibility for the Pandemic Response falls on local leaders thats right governors right now its your time to shine are meeting the challenges and others are falling short cities like new orleans new york and even small town georgia are feeling the heat in a big way as corona virus continues to spread and hospitals become overwhelmed states and localities responded with shelter in place orders but theyre piecemeal at best florida delayed closing its beaches governor to stand it was adamant about preventing new yorkers from traveling to the Sunshine State but act as though spring breakers were amusing to the virus sprayed in georgia governor kim issued an executive order to reopen beaches just last week in direct conflict with city mayors across the state not to mention c. D. C. Guidance also admitted to not knowing asymptomatic people could even spread the virus where has he been over the past few weeks and what did he think the whole point of social distancing was. Markedly democratic governors like cuomo in new york j. P. Parts going to illinois governor bush here in kentucky and what more and michigan are doing a far better job than they were public and counterparts the question is why why arent republican governors with the exception of the wine ohio and hold it in maryland taking this virus more seriously states are in urgent need for support supplies and direct action joining us now is ed markey former chairman of the missouri Republican Party welcome. Great to be with you guys hope youre both well we are we are through out of its been of interest thank you for weeks as if i want to hazard has it in your experience what wire the virus response on a state level state to state governor to governor why are they so divergent and why is there no cohesiveness to the state responses. Well i think i have 2 perspectives on this one with the political hand and one is i was once chief of staff to the governor of missouri and when i was chief of staff one of the things that i was briefed a lot on was the state Emergency Management you know when you came to understand that you had certain challenges that were specific to your state specific to you or at that time the state the state guard the state police the state laws so some of it is just a structural some of it is how each state is set up and some of it is a preference based on things like in st louis and human misery for example 2 major cities samus in kansas city were in our state that kind of tended to to adjust things in terms of the urban rural component to me you dont with it differently but then wearing a political hat these guys and gals at the top of these states these are the some of the coming you know most talented coming men and women in terms of their party so theyre also trying to find their role and i you know we talk to our organization my realization that philosophically goals are eagles in most states and places like montana they want to do less right they think they want to do less and they want to be more you know kind of free and let things go and as you said in places where thats happened. And the governors have a rush to adjust their policies again were dealing with a something its everybody i think agrees is so once in a generation or once in a 100 years everybodys adjusting on the fly one thing i would say from a conservative perspective i like seeing the states being in charge i like andrew cuomo being strong i dont know hes always been right but i think hes been the one whos saying hey heres what my Community Needs you know then you get to blasio who made a mess of it for a period as adjusted so i think were seeing on the that the on the fly there just into the problem and were going to see floridas paying a price for some of their decisions but other states have been ahead of the curve and i look at missouri my home state they just decided a couple days ago to sort of go fully shelter in place i think its because we could see the numbers and it made sense for them to i think thats a better way for our country to work. I think i probably agree with me when it comes to faith actually taking that leadership role especially especially considering who is in the white house right now. The thought is set to have the largest wave of crisis coronavirus cases and its grossly under prepared in terms of possible infrastructural rule medicine clinic closures if they will to expand medicaid why arent republican governors in those areas addressing their health care infrastructure. Well i think a couple things 1st of all i think most states you know we look back and theyll be plenty of time for this youll see that most of the states did not spend the money to stockpile resources this was a present referred to and thats both parties i think they thought well this will never happen to us or if it does will it just look i think most of the scientists are saying were trying to flatten the curve and slow the spread but were going to see it every you know its going to spread across the country everywhere and how we deal with it as you point out is going to be the question not im heartened to see the adjustment of states i think it was maybe illinois that was sending ventilators to a different state in other words were going to see this movement of resources around the country the key thing is going to be though to a both. Test and adjust where we see it growing and then make decisions about how we sort of restart our country and restart our economy one thing im frustrated with with both the presidency the president and the and the governors is whats the plan i mean we cant say short of in our homes for 60 more days we have to have a plan on how to start this process a phased you know phase 3 entry into the workforce whatever it is but i look at i think will be plenty of time for the south to adjust i think youll see guys like cuomo and others who will help the federal government stamp but its all once again a generation or 100 years challenges were facing that it truly is of and its interesting to see just you know how under prepared we were further this for this and as somebody you know im im a big i believe states to definitely be you know in charge of taking care of their own states they know their people best we agree very much on that ken but can states compete with the pedal government for supplies in the marketplace i mean weve heard can talk to governor bush or him paddick we say that states come up they cant compete with the pads when it comes to spending in the marketplace and i agree with you the feds need to get a plan in place not just for getting people back to work but for handling the virus in the 1st place. Yeah i mean a couple things on that 1st of all the state governments cant print money which is what the federal government just did which is you know we can say oh at least to have inflation during this time period where you cant raise prices but its a disaster in the making to print a trillion dollars worth of dollar bills i mean so we can all agree on that so i grew i understand what the states mean but heres the heres the challenge i would say is that in ash states we have i think we have to have a little bit better accountability in our states im talking missouri now for a 2nd the biggest the biggest employer in our state of the government is the Hospital System b j c in st louis its a nonprofit its one of these nonprofits that everybody makes a fortune at. There are Real Estate Development company like these universities that have billions of dollars in downs and they lay off the cafeteria workers in harvard that when this week i would like to see our states and our leaders both parties are held hostage by these Hospital Systems in every state and also the Insurance Companies that are still making money off of this these are the people that need to be pressure points the Hospital System b j c in stainless has billions of dollars they could be buying whatever they want and they turn around and say oh look were hamstrung im sorry the top guy at barnes jewish be jaycees make it 3 or 4000000 dollars a year to run a Hospital System i mean weve got some problems i think were seeing a realignment in this country of the see who the corporate actors are and how its impacting things now i will say this i would say we need our Health Care System to allow more transparency and price and more competition i think others would say we need more money in the system but whatever it is we know the Health Care System is not doing well enough its going to be the topic Going Forward in the next couple years i will say this that is were for the shop the show to bury and thank you for coming out of i will say this though that either going to have to rethink our entire economic and Health Care System from the ground up because if it cant survive american spending almost for 4 weeks that have some of them there is something wrong with that to begin with thank you very much sir always a pleasure having you on sir. Great to see both. Man alive what show it was today big topics and scary times that may show but we have to wrap up now so what occurred so that it was ours over you today remember everyone in this world were not told that would love the not so i tell you all from my heart i love you i am tyrol been to rome and im in the keep on watching all those hawks out there have a great day and night everybody. What is the difference between embarrassing gaffes and elder abuse joe biden certainly excels at the former and maybe is the big dim of the latter we are told mention of Mental Health is off limits to what degree is the public the right to know. Humanity is on the edge of the precipice thanks to continuing destruction of the natural world. You just seem laid out a lot of good results a group of losing myself and a lady of. The people who make. Less than nothing you can hold up. The pen you. Got that over the war. Or the. Only dealing in the muslim world as a little book you sit around and stuff it and ship them see that today when was the movie. Human activity has brought us to the brink of the worlds 6th major extinction of it and the people in this film just come take it anymore. This is artie u. K. Were live from Central London welcome to our viewers from around the world were currently waiting the governments daily Coronavirus Press briefing as the Prime Minister remains in intensive care with coronavirus itll be given today by foreign secretary dominic robb whos also standing in for the Prime Minister meanwhile headlines this hour. Living expenses its worst 24 daily deaths on 786 fatalities from the virus our correspondent is live outside the hospital where the Prime Minister is receiving treatment for the disease in an intensive care unit. From a Standing Rock claims the lockdown must continue and thats as economists estimate its costing the country 2400000000 a day we hear from former liberal democrat leader and one time business secretary servants came. From line medics treating patients because of 19 claimed they are forced to make their own personal protective equipment from improvised materials thats as Research Suggests the government is severely underestimating the number of doctors off work with the virus but we can now cross to the governments daily corona virus meeting up with coronavirus update with dominic rob good afternoon and welcome to todays downing street press Conference Im joined by the chief scientific advisor us about your balance and chief medical officer professor chris witty before we get on to the detail kerry 1st give an update on the condition of the Prime Minister i know a lot of people be concerned about that i can tell you hes receiving the very best care from the Excellent Medical Team at some Thomas Hospital he remains stable overnight hes receiving standard treatment and breathing without any assistance hes not required any mechanical ventilation or noninvasive respiratory support the range of good spirits and in keeping with usual clinical practice his progress continues to be monitored closely in Critical Care and will give further updates on the p. M. s condition when there are any material developments. I know that theres been a groundswell of messages of support from people here at home from leaders across the world and i know that everyone will want to join with me in wishing the Prime Minister a very swift recovery. As you well know the Prime Minister asked me to deputize for him once he recovered and in line with the Prime Ministers instructions this morning i chaired the meeting of senior ministers tackling coronavirus and this afternoon i chaired not date for members of the cabinet. I think its probably worth just remembering that as would be the case for many people up and down the country who know someone at work whos fallen ill with the coronavirus it comes as a shock to all of us hes not just the Prime Minister all of us in cabinet hes not just our boss hes also a colleague and hes also our friend so all of our thoughts and prayers are with the Prime Minister at this time with kerry and with his whole family and im confident hell pull through because if theres one thing i know about this Prime Minister hes a fighter and hell be back at the helm leading us through this crisis in short order. Because for us in cabinet we know exactly what he wants from us and what he expects from us right now and following the cabinet discussion today i can reassure the Prime Minister and we can reassure the public that his team will not blink and we will not flinch from the task at hand at this crucial moment. We keep all of our focus and all of our resolve with calm determination on delivering the governments plan to defeat the coronavirus. And its with that objective with that unity of purpose that the cabinet turned to Business Today we had reports from 4 ministerial groups on the action were taking across all of the strategic Priority Areas including excess capacity procurement of ventilators and personal protective equipment the delivery of Public Services including social care on the economy and our support for both businesses and workers and of course on the International Action were taking to reinforce our efforts on the home front. As weve explained before our action plan aims to slow the spread of the virus so few people need hospital treatment at any one time and that will help us protect the n. H. S. Ability to cope at every step weve been following the scientific advice the medical advice and weve been very deliberate in the actions that weve taken so that we take the right steps at the right moment in time. Were increasing our n. H. S. Capacity by dramatically expanding the number of beds key staff lifesaving equipment on the front line so people have the care they need when they need it most and as weve consistently said with instructing people to stay at home so we can protect the n. H. S. And so that we can save lives so today i can report that through the governments ongoing monitoring and Testing Program that again as of today 213181 people have now been tested for the corona virus 55242 people have tested positive. The number of people admitted to hospital with coronavirus symptoms now stands at 18599 and of those who have contracted the virus 6150 i have im very sorry to say died. Every death in this pandemic is a tragedy and our thoughts and our prayers are with their loved ones at what must be an incredibly difficult time. And i think these figures reinforce that the single most important thing that we can all of us do right now in this National Effort to defeat the coronavirus is keep on following the governments advice which is to stay home protect the n. H. S. And save lives and are now turn to surpass trick you i think will talk us through some of the data thank you very much one of the 1st slide please. Its worth remembering this is a brand new we have just been hearing from the foreign secretary dominic rob giving the governments daily coronavirus something he said that the Prime Minister remains in intensive care but that he hasnt received ventilation rob said that he was confident the Prime Minister would pull soon the Boris Johnson was a fighter and meanwhile the daily death toll reaches its highest number he said he has more all for us from outside the hospital with a promise to is being treated so is any further word on the Prime Ministers condition at the moment. But we know the Prime Minister has had well had tested positive called 911 days ago and his situation has deteriorated to the point hes now in a intensive care we had from dominic rob who is now the acting Prime Minister for all intents and purposes day hes taking over the running of government while Boris Johnson is out of contention although some said to be in good spirits and still conscious now we know dr you mentioned that rob is in charge for now should he get sick the responsibility would then cost to the child sort of riches so that as we stand it now mr rob that also drawing reference to the death toll to rise of 786. 00 deaths across the United Kingdom in the latest 24 hour period of voters who have tested positive for coded 98. 00 up for those 2 days when the bubble was coming down so you know clearly an indication still hopes that this crisis was reaching its peak yet because thats a huge rise in the number of those who have lost their lives and weve also been seeing messages coming in from around the country and around the world at davy the acting head of the its ok to stop the new leader of the labor party by the term equal to the outgoing leader of the labor party across the police. Spectrum people sending that well wishes to borstal some hoping that he will come to soon but also those abroad as well the russian president. Brushed present not timid hoots in the french transcendental macro and the scottish 1st minister nicolas touching all of them too sending messages and wishing and praying that for some so it does get over the base. Thank you very much indeed for that live update as he said i need to talk to david bull thinks that the fact that even the Prime Minister can experience of this symptoms should come as a reminder to us all. What it shows really is just the human tragedy behind this disease you know i think it shocked a lot of people that the Prime Minister and i think many people saw him as someone who was in number 10 downing street giving out these really warm sentiments saying you know everything will be fine and for him suddenly to be admitted into hospital and to then be transferred to intensive care means that actually his condition is worsening now there are conflicting reports are spoken to some of my medical colleagues who are working in the hospital now and there is no doubt that he would have received oxygen and obviously theyre being very careful you know hes the Prime Minister so you have got to make sure that they do everything and they go over and above what they could possibly humanly do so hes been given oxygen ive also heard reports that he has been given say power now that is what is called Continuous Positive Airways Pressure that keeps the airways open to allow his lungs to inflate with oxygen one of the problems with this disease is that you cant actually ventilate your lungs properly but there is a tradeoff we dont want to intervene too early but at the same time you dont want to intervene too late so the point about using Something Like see pap is it will help him to oxygenate his blood and thats something that they would have decided with caution so from what i understand and the reports are right that he hasnt been integrated and hes not going to light it can you put a prognosis all the likelihood of recovery for someone in this situation well he has a number of risk factors against him you know theres i dont think it surprise anyone when i say hes overweight something that will count against him i dont know whether he has any underlying medical conditions the good thing is hes under 60 we know those people under 60 do better i think hes 55 all theyre about but the figures speak for themselves and last night when i heard that hed been admitted i was gravely concerned because when you look at the numbers across the world the. People if he is i want to see happen thats what i. What those figures normally show is that you tend to move from say power up to being ventilated in about 60 percent of cases weve been 24 hours. The man tell us were stepping in for Boris JohnsonDominic Robbins downplayed the possibility of lifting the lockdown the foreign secretary said that the current rules must continue to be in force to slow the spread of the virus the risk right now is if we take our focus off the strategy which is beginning to work is that we wont get through the peak as fast as we need to which is why its perfectly legitimate to ask the question but the governments overriding priority has got to be to keep up the work that and the commitment that so many people have made to make sure that we maintain the social distancing we stop the spread we protect the n. H. S. As we come through the peak the lockdown applies to all 4 home nations and the 1st minister of wales has called for a cobra meeting to review it mark drake for it said its necessary to look at the restrictions as the initial 3 week lock down period draws to a close we want experts concerned about the impact of a continued shutdown on the economy estimates suggest the lock down could cost the country around 2400000000 pounds every day the center for economics and business search says that g. D. P. Will be reduced by around 30 percent as people are forced to stay at home. Others predict that the economy could be hit by 30 percent in the 2nd financial quarter from april to june if theyre not down remains in mark and suma confidence is at its lowest level since the financial crash in 1000000 people apply for universal credit at the end of last month 10 times the average over a 2 week period. Hola leader of the liberal democrats and former business secretary sevenths cable told me that the government will face a large deficit after the lock down for propping up the economy the g. D. P. That the economy is running about 30 percent below what youd expect its trend no let supposing an optimistic be that this keep it it remains the next 3 months and we dont know the relief of the lock down in the summer maybe theres a 50 percent below trend in the skin in the 3rd quarter and then well return to normal well ducks a 10 percent just over 10 percent cuts in the economy with never had anything as bad as that even in the financial crisis so its a very big hit and that is the optimistic view it could be that we take a long time to recover not to mix things and maybe damage they and it may not may not be easy to replace credit from Financial Institutions will kind of things could happen and it could be we get into a saloon w. Shaped recovery as. Suggested by the return of the virus in places but singapore there seem to have got on top of it and it could be that we dont recover but we just have a lot of damage that just remains indefinite they put out economic advice what would you say to the government to try and stimulate growth again once this is all beginning to calm down a bit from you all experience what would you say well at the moment they have obviously not stipulating directly or trying to stop that and thats the whole point about the lockdown but once we get to a point where they restraints on production are removed then its a question of then breathing some life back into the economy getting people spending getting businesses investing well or that we are going to be faced with running very very large government deficits because it since the government is supporting the economy. Debt levels are going to get very very uncomfortable in britain and dates from around the world and. There will then be quite a big economic divide say about how we handle the legacy still to come this. Assertion goes online while not wearing clubs to the supermarket could be doing more good ill be speaking to him live shortly. Join me every thursday on the alec simon show and ill be speaking to guest of the world of politics sports business im showbusiness ill see you then. Frontline medics treating patients with covert 19 claim they are forced to make their own masks eyewear and gallons stuff at Brighton SussexUniversity Hospitals say theyve been forced to fashion face masks out of laminate and elastic bands other frontline staff reported making protective gear from clinical way spandex and plastic aprons while some of even board ski goggles to use as protective i wear the union for n. H. S. Workers a said that frontline medical staff should not be put in such a position is this how we expect those risking their lives in the face of a pandemic to be treated front line nursing staff be forced to make their own p. P. To protect themselves the crucial guidance from Public Health england is clear all n. H. S. Staff should be empowered to choose the p. P. They need to protect themselves at work and we will be on the case to ensure that the hospital is implementing this no brighton and Sussex University hospital staff or n. H. S. But by the Health Workers should be put in a position where they feel their employer is prepared to sacrifice their own safety to keep the Service Running the Hospital Trust and Public Health england havent commented on the situation yet but Health Secretary matt hancock said the protective kit was on its way to hospitals that says the latest research by the Royal College of physicians suggests the government is also underestimating the number of medics off work due to the virus. Official figures released by the department of health and social care says that over 6 percent of doctors are off due to corona virus related reasons the numbers revealed by the Royal College of physicians are more than double the official figures reaching over 14 percent the doctors study also found that just 78 percent were able to access the necessary equipment to have a 30 percent could get hold of covert 900 swabs and one in 10 reported not being able to get tests for patients who met the criteria. Well dr american told me that homemade personal protective equipment leaves medical staff at high risk. Its really sad that this is still going on i think as it has an n. H. S. G. P. Or doctors everywhere i think we are sick to the back teeth really of hearing from the government that the p. V. T. Is on its way the military are delivering it im sure the military is doing their best ive not seen any sign of but me now so you yourself are seeing a shortage yourself. Well not anymore but what we recall so ago we didnt have goals to wait to see creation said with potential coronavirus instance that has since been remedied we were told initially chip to source our own p. P. A. But that has since been remedied but my sister works in my sisters work in hospital and i got it from from their particular hospital that they havent got the right people and the story about brides and making their own p. B. S. Really worried that its still go is homemade protective equipment good enough is it adequate or is this really putting stuff at risk no its absolutely no adequate you know were making ourselves its not to any particular standard and that is there were you know the stuff that is recommended by Public Health england by the World Health Organization that it is ok to a particular stand in its in scientifically tested when you make it out of a plastic bag or anything really makeshift there is no scientific background to it and what its doing is opening up these and h s which is to getting the infection to being off work and to potentially die as well which is really really sad and only slowly has workers will do anything for our patients but all we ask for in return is the right equipment. Charges one of thousands of people suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses could die as Health Service resources are redirected to find coronavirus we understand covert 19 is presenting a Health Care Systems with huge challenges but it is important Cancer Patients and their needs are not forgotten about sharing this time. The influx of patients suffering from the virus means theres already a shortage of intensive care beds while operating theatres have been commandeered to handle intensive care unit overflow this is led to some surgery being proposed such as heart operations with many patients left unsure when their procedures will go ahead the pandemic has also led to the cancellation of a wide range of clinic appointments as well as Mental Health services one deal struck between the government and 3 private cancer clinics means thousands of priority cases will now receive treatment outside the n. H. S. But the strain on n. H. S. Resources has led many patients with serious Health Issues fearing that they will become hidden victims of the pandemic on the consequences of delaying some operations such as heart surgery could be fatal. Consultant cardiologist dr steve cousin told me that it is a balancing act between shielding some patients and getting help for others. Initially we did some trigger surveys weve got a network of a 1000000 doctors claim we called med share with some work that looked like doctors felt that the numbers of patients presenting were down there were in the process of looking at that more closely with the British Heart Foundation and the initial indications are that the number of large heart attack patients are actually elevation my counting function patients down by about 40 percent particularly in big cities now what we dont know is whether thats because there are fewer heart attacks occurring which to some extent is possible if people are at home resting or not going out but the concern that we have is that those patients who are likely suffer a heart attack are older their life is at the risk factors for the High Risk Group that were trying to shield and weve been so good at getting the message across that those people need to take care be shielded that perhaps theyre not coming to a hospital so the message we need to get out is that if you have chest pain if you have stroke symptoms that you did need to call for help what do you make of the fact the government is working with private clinics now to give priority Cancer Patients key treatment i mean that this is not the case they would have a serious illness is what about your patients for example we can they benefit from this move i think the move in terms of cancer surgeries very welcome i know private providers in london are supporting cancer surgery i think in terms of plans cardiac procedures i think i describe it as being under control its not perfect situation and i think it depends on how long the have that we can have all the pressures in the service go on for as to how we manage things so circular motion whats going on with patients i think or we cut expenses i know are being very responsible in how they receive you look after patients and as i say the thing to bear in mind is that most of the elective patients we know that we can get pretty Good Management with medications and so we can then see other more definitive procedures the wrist lot of what he will need to bring in and then when he said cant see protect them from what is going on in the hospital in general. From one surgeon is taking to social media to woman against unnecessarily wearing gloves when out and about. During the help break im going to explain why you dont need to wear gloves when you go out youve got your gloves youre at the supermarket youre touching pigs they go germs you keep touching more things throughout the day with the same gloves germs everywhere you accumulated germs your glove is now more full of germs then your hand would have been if you watched each time dr karen regular posted the video on social media app to talk to men for size that wearing gloves outside a clinical setting could be doing more harm than good or the members of the public have recently been spotted outside wearing gloves shopping while on elting the doctor says they can collect and spread more germs instead he advises people to stick to the official advice by washing their hands regularly and staying safe and sensible. Well a surgeon behind a video dr Karen Rangarajan joins me himself karen how thanks for joining us thanks for trying to get us a bit more them because people of obviously watching this might be perplexed thinking that wearing gloves can actually do more harm than good i mean that they must do something. Well i mean definitely the recommendation by probably counseling. Is that blacks have Important Role to play in a clinical setting if youre a Health Care Worker you come into regular contact with body fluids to patients and even in these settings that love to use crucial period of time that this post of and even removed the correct way might sound like a trivial thing but even there is a correct way and technique to remove a lot of weight cross contamination are you know recommendations by Public Health england lucero theyre not in place for members of the public you know even though there is a great deal of anxiety about things like Grocery Shopping and this is manifest a boom in the number of people wearing gloves yet actually its not disposed of or moved off in the correct technique if people are wearing it between several errands theyre actually accumulating you know germs and potential virus particles and actually spreading it more than they would with just hand wash and their houses so it really is essential to dispose the gloves properly and of course of many people think that they can just use the gloves when they go shopping throw them in a bin after theyve been to the supermarket and thats simply not enough even if you throw them in the bed after a short time shopping i think i think the key thing here is that you know wearing gloves isnt a substitute for hand washing and also you know theres a risk that we might lapse in terms of our you know hand washing take the things like that people may think gloves on their own protect from coronavirus and then may lapse on that sort of hand washing routines and things like that and as a salute as well you know those are meant to the public you know people may not be well versed with the correct way to. 2 of Oil Contamination of the outside of the gloves and you know lots of people sequentially it still touch their hands their mobiles their wallets with their gloves so you know hand washing is the ideal way or not spread and talk to the public being well versed youve taken your message to social media and its had quite an impact so perhaps then the public really isnt informed enough. Yeah i think sir i mean i was surprised to sort of wake up after my. Prenup to wake up with all of this kind of news but i think you know there is a lack of knowledge and lots of fear mongering in the media about massive blocks to keep the and i think thats not helps in terms of you know how the public to see this illness and i think its a psychological thing that people way gloves and wear masks outside to you know have that Psychological Safety net as it were what about social distancing are you confident that these measures are working well i think you know as the days are gone are deathly seen a drop in the number of people when i go out to buy something at the supermarket or im driving to work there are number of calls that are seen a drop and you know and as unfortunate as it is to her or a stance and in the intensive care unit a stain and use of that magnitude will further make people say oh is that why shocking news to you know it dr karen regular john thank you very much thank you for joining us live here not great to talk of profanity and thats it for the moment more news coming your way in half an hour. I dont trust medical authority at all ever and the reason for that is i had this horrible water i mean just our growing up and it turns out it was completely alleviated with very drastic dietary measures and i went to a number of doctors to discuss what happened to me and i was basically laughed at like diet has nothing to do with autoimmune disorders so my suggestion to people who have Health Issues they cant figure out if theyre going to see a medical professional and theyve been going for 10 years and theyre still in the same place they should probably take it upon themselves to Start Testing things out testing out diet testing out exercise and try and figure out things on their own. In this community there are people who believe that its ok. Its really hard there are no jobs and you see that ive got kids that ask and as a parent. I can come up with arguments and theres a lot accomplished within the game and between the teams and most of the conflict i would say over the years from morning in the most room when he does me. Most want to know the tunes of those children is good because the state of california makes 6000000000 clues that you have to present a complete system to get some point in your life where.
