Dissent says so but shes. So youll. Welcome on the watching dogs i am tired and im in the chicago and joining us today to help us sift through this fall out from the great super tuesday is the host of disruption now great name for a podcast by the way Rob Richardson rob thank you for coming on great to be on our time and so the game of thrones for the nomination is definitely took a lot of victims this week but what im interested in knowing and from you and to me she is what did you see on super tuesday and the fallout after words that you feel everyone should be talking about but are talking about enough. Well i mean i believe people are talking about this but the fact is i think Bernie Sanders would be extremely worried if you look at states that joe biden won that he should have won that the narrative was such that you know well Bernie Sanders going to run away with it on tuesday think about this you have you have him losing maine thats his backyard thats a big deal right you know youre in politics you cant youre losing in your backyard no matter what you have to i mean thats just an awful arm bills he lost minnesota i mean minnesota is an incredibly progressive state thats like home territory we talk about theyre the progressive the progressive very progressive state he lost a lot we thought maine he also lost texas. Texas was he was project everyone thought was going to win texas they looked at nevada and said well lets you know voters are showing andro doesnt seem to be true anymore right that is if you look at when you actually have a state versus a caucus its very different people are not talking about the fact that ok we have caucuses which i think should be eliminated here or there we have a caucus that doesnt really give you a real representation of where people are at it gives you sort of doesnt give you a real sample now we have a whole state is showing that you know bernie is not across the board like we saw you know the young people didnt come out at the level that they did even in 2016 so that has to be you have to be worried about a lot when youre in the senators camp right now think the other issue is that bernie put a lot of his eggs in the basket of what he saw happen in nevada and hoping that that same thing which translate to a state like texas texas in the bottom have entirely different make up in the political realm but also in terms of what it takes to get people out the bottle actually has a lot more registered latino than the state of texas does that this has gone out of its way to create barriers to the latino vote and i think that even though he invested a lot of money in outreach campaigning there what they didnt do was invest a lot of money in making sure that Voter Suppression wasnt happening there so they could have used a safe neighborhood in texas if you really want to see the type of turnout that was expected the black vote in texas came out loud and proud the latino vote even though it is considerably higher than the black vote for the state of texas at least with greatly suppressed there are a lot of people who stayed home but for the most part i think there was a projection that there are over 200000 latinos in texas who are eligible to vote who are not registered to vote there is a huge problem there so whenever youre basing your vote count on that youre going to have a problem unless you figure out some type of way to get all these people registered in time i mean spend one point i want to just touch on very quickly to that i think is a long term problem democrats have to look at them out of Voter Suppression theres been an infrastructure in place and its been its a strategy for the Republican Party for the last 30 years actually to go back to paul white rich very quickly he said we want to make sure most people dont vote paul white rich people can look it up hes the founder of. Of a lot of the political conservative movement but this has been playing in place for a long time people were waiting in line for 78 hours so like if you look at whats happening general election theyre going to ramp that up and theyre ramp that ramp it up in other states its a huge problem for democracy and obviously the huge its going to be a huge issue possibly for democrats because what republicans are going to him to do is do Everything Possible to make it harder for potential democratic voters to vote put every bear they can so there needs to be a long runway of infrastructure and strategy towards that as you know its funny how democrats have kind of ignored that over the years and allowed to really run checkers you know. And i dont think that we can underscore i think we were talking about some of the midwestern states earlier minnesota in particular when we think about the what it meant to have to judge and close which are drop out part of that both of them midwestern people who honored their midwestern values the entire time they were in the race and basically carried it as their brand for them to endorse by and for at least a specific will close part to come out on the night that she that she dropped out of the race and immediately endorsed him right then and there and also bring her people to him i think that that mattered i think that her name carried a lot of weight across the midwest and i think that you know her her supporters and those who supported you know what looked like a vision from her that they could get behind threw their weight behind by and then and then the other part of the standard camp i think needs to reassess is the fact that if you look at it there was a story out that they were surprised that so many people coalesced against him so quickly and my thing is why are you surprised like this is. Everybody pretty obvious right. Youve been taking shots of the party which is allowed to do and i can say that probably helped him somewhat but if youre going to take that strategy dont be surprised when the people youve been targeting go after you i mean thats sort of been used as all that coming out of play thats the big power of our party too right take shots of power power is going to fight back but if youre going to have a win this year and when you are going down so that you are not a democrat we have to continually. Remind people that i love this race the people who are currently in it aside from bloomberg becoming a democrat well hes out now but aside from bloomberg become a democrat just to get in this race this being the 1st time he ever ran as a democrat in history Bernie Sanders doesnt identify as a democrat has never identified as a democrat and we think that when it came to voters on super tuesday they also are pragmatic they paid attention specifically in the south they paid attention to his thin resume when it came to accomplishment he says a lot of things he gets far fewer of those things done and they want somebody who is going to be able to stand up against President Trump who is going to be able to showcase their strength in building coalitions Bernie Sanders is only showcase his strength and making sure that he has a lot of twitter followers and a lot of young people hype and excited online and i will say this be he does have hes tapped into something but what he what he doesnt realize is actually how to use it see this talk of a revolution we do need a series one of those right but like revolution is something is too much in peoples minds so really understanding how to frame the narrative really matters so when he he already has this loyal following he didnt know how to pivot to expand his business the real question though joe biden has looked awful in the debates lets be real yes i mean hes terrible i mean absolutely awful i mean if you have a good name im a good point but it getting there is a lot more of the process. So can we do we democrats really expect him to debate against donald trump we i dont mean beyond what we all dont like what donald stands for and all of that ok fine but when youre talking about your put the showman up against a guy who i mean lets be real he looks and sounds his age is he going to survive through the American People thats tough because i dont think that anybody in the Democratic Party is prepared to to be on to something anybody in the Democratic Party is prepared to go toe to toe with trump in the big in the way that debates because Democratic Party leaders and Democratic Party officials have been taught to historically debate at a high level to historically debate policy to historically be able to debate and for. All of these partisan arguments together thats not what donald trump does when youre going against a showman like you said somebody whos a reality t. V. Star somebody who is here to throw out jabs to throw you off your square that is a very hard thing to do when you were in the entirety of her life and political career have not made it by doing so so i think that is going to be difficult no matter who the nominee one of me look we can be very honest definitely the Vice President is fumbled his way to this point and the reason why people worry they had reason to be worried he had listened what do you what do you achieve was incredible no one has really done this amount of this amount of comeback we have the comeback kid with bill clinton was in that this level he had no money no money no money no money people on the rally this is all i people like we wanted more of a reject in the standard some way for them i dont know what was right because he came down to his standard people are like we know we at least trust joe biden we know he was with obama for these years and we believe we need a steady hand i think there was some of that going on versus this chaotic mess thats happening the white house to your point though yes youre going to go up against a showman i do have some concern about that and i also have concern kind of like me said about how democrats for a narrative that we democrats like to have the moral high ground and thats it i just out there. To be able to write or write is right and i says im not that were right but its not its not like when they go low we go high no i lost the way of lego we should go directly at it tell the truth about what i love most but that point holds in the party they think of we need to just be right and then everything will be good and its not true i got to say thank you so much for coming down and always a pleasure having you on thank you very much great great insight today to have ghana stand words we predicted earlier this week all is not well with President Trumps afghanistan peace deal yes appears that once again the u. S. Is dropping bombs on the taliban who we just signed a Peace Agreement with what has at or day. To america john hardy the latest. Less than a week after the u. S. And the talibans. On that historic Peace Agreement the violence continues and its something that u. S. Officials and certainly skeptics of the Peace Agreement warned about that as soon as the u. S. Would agree to pull out of afghanistan the taliban would seize the opportunity to attack Afghan Forces and that certainly appears to be the case colonel Sonny Leggett a u. S. Military spokesman tweeted that the u. S. Launched an air strike on taliban fighters who are quote actively attacking an Afghan Security force checkpoint in the Helmand Province adding this was a defensive strike to disrupt the attack this was our 1st strike against the taliban in 11 days the Afghan Interior Ministry said 11 troops and poor civilians were killed while Afghan Forces killed at least 17 taliban fighters but this comes just days after the u. S. And taliban signed the historic Peace Agreement doha qatar that and not only ending americas longest running war but also ultimately withdrawing u. S. Forces from afghanistan opening the way for peace talks between the taliban and afghan leaders the u. S. Was hoping that the taliban would cease its military operations not only against the United States which taliban leaders agreed they would do but also against Afghan Security forces in fact on tuesday President Trump said he spoke with a top taliban leader who signed the agreement telling reporters outside the white house this i spoke to the leader of the taliban today we had a good god. Weve agreed theres no violence we dont want violence well see what happens. With that but well see what happens whats happened well obviously more violence critics of the taliban deal have raised concerns that as i mentioned as soon as the u. S. Would essentially sign the deal and start to pull forces out of the country the taliban would start attacking Afghan Forces clearly the taliban has started the violence again much sooner than anticipated further the u. S. Had agreed to help secure the release of 5000. 00 taliban prisoners in exchange for 1000 afghan prisoners something. Afghan president ghani is now saying he never agreed to at least not before talks between the taliban and afghan officials are scheduled to Begin Next Week so this adds yet another complicated layer to the agreement that may be at risk of falling apart colonel leggett added in another tweet today quote to be clear we are committed to peace however we have the responsibility to defend r. And d. S. An Afghan National defense Security Force partners afghans and us have complied with our agreements however taliban appear intent on squandering this opportunity and ignoring the will of the people for peace hash tag show your commitment but verin lies the problem the taliban may simply not have a penchant for peace to quote President Trump well see what happens from watching the hawks john honey. Which is available on Smartphones Google play on the upper left or you got to get it by simply searching for double the coming up we delve into the role men play in the political debate surrounding the controversial topic of the 4 states to watch. Were feeding our hopes our dreams our desires our money to compete this creates a war do we get back to go like thats thats a bad deal so when this technology jumping out of history what is the goal of the help you need to keep you healthy to keep me informed or to keep me you know you connected and i missed it so we will live in an area of the post screen area where we will live with less at all these screens and it will be more in harmony or it will help us. Thousands of american men and women choose to soon have in their countries military and decision a little sheltered lives every thing came to a complete. The day that i was raised to be instructed you know told to shut up what theyd kill me and i see how it destroyed my life any screamed at me and he made me come in the gram my arm and he write me with his birth ink area if you take into account that women dont report because of the extreme retaliation and its probably somewhere near about half a 1000000 women have now been sexually assaulted in the us military rape is a very very traumatizing thing tat happen but ive never seen trauma like ive seen from women who are veterans who have suffered military sexual trauma reporting rape is more likely to get the victim punished them the offender i had an almost 10 year career or chose very invested in and i gave that up to report a sex offender who was not even put to justice or put on the registry this is simply an issue of tower and violence male sexual predators for the large part of target whoever is there to prey upon whether thats a man or woman. Why do we go. The war because we view the key to Economic Growth as oil and energy we go to war is Vice President cheney said for the oil thats why they invaded iraq for the oil thats why trump says the one thing we want syria we really dont want to go to war with russia we want to just control the oil. And the gas blood and the pipelines through afghanistan so the military is really an extension of controlling a world of energy and oil. Its no secret that roe v wade and the war on womens reproductive rights was waged across the United States decades ago the protections provided under the Landmark Supreme Court legislation are being a race largely in republican led state legislatures with enraged and wavering support from president from his minions and those who would like to invoke religion when it comes to womens pregnant bodies but take no issue with not providing food housing or bible education out when a childs home isnt the one yet both the same religious right that had no problem voting for and supporting an adulterer with multiple divorces a penchant for lying and a low porn stars but somehow this group wants to regulate when a woman decides to become a mother from legislative prescriptions on access to forced ultrasound laws and the cool is a nation of abortion providers the hurdles to Abortion Access are still in fact more than 2 dozen states have moved forward with abortion bans in the 2 years since justice cavanaghs confirmation to Supreme Court conservative men seem to not have a single problem with legislating womens bodies even though most of them cant actually tell you anything about Womens Health or the myriad of reasons why a woman might seek to terminate a pregnancy in the 1st place but i digress. Abortion restrictions didnt start with trump and his band of brothers in fact theyve been bubbling up for nearly 2 decades unchallenged at the state level organizations like planned parenthood may roll in scores of womens advocacy groups are fighting back but it seems we rarely hear from prochoice mitt thats about to change member choice an Advocacy Organization created in 2015 to build allies in the prochoice Movement Across illinois is Going National joining me now is member choice cofounder when jacobson to tell us more welcome or thanks for having me on the show mary she was definitely most of so obviously i know you were both illinois people here illinois has been seen as a state that is this liberal bastion or you have a liberal legislature it should be very easy to get certain pieces of legislation to protect reproductive rights out of the state of illinois why start illinois and what changes have you seen there that you think could be extrapolated on some of the other states where the why start there is because thats where i happen to live so that you know sense. Look a little bit more a little less than 5 years ago i heard a presentation that was not that dissimilar from what you just outlined which was the dramatic way in which this Antiabortion Movement had systematically worked to roll back rights across the country since the Tea Party Revolution in particular in 2010 they talked about jobs and what they really did was went after Abortion Access i couldnt believe what i heard and more importantly i didnt believe that i didnt know as someone who is pretty engaged and the next question i start to ask myself is why did i not know and are there more guys like me and then looked around and said theres just not that many of us here why not because this is an issue that affects all of us but most of us treated as if its just your issue with me shit thats very true and thats one of the questions i think thats very important you know theres a lot of good guys out there really do what you want to do their bodies up to her should be her choice how do you get men involved in this movement and why do you think the there are so many prochoice men who are. Silent for so long yes so if you look at the polling on this 6 in 10 men in america believe that abortion should be safe legal and easily accessible in most or all cases 60 percent that turns into Something Like 61 ish 1000000 adult men in america what we believe in what weve set up the organization to solve for is that men dont engage for basically for specific reasons they dont actually know what harm is being created they understand abortion Anderson Roe V Wade but they dont understand the harm thats being created by the rollbacks 1st and foremost number 2 they think this is a gendered issue number 3 they dont understand how to engage it what do i say how do i do whats the right role for me in the space because lets face it this isnt about me i shouldnt be centered we should be centered in this conversation and number 4 they dont see a place to naturally or comfortably and because guys tend to do stuff where other guys are and so weve tried to provide them a home thats ultimately just a funnel to the folks who are most directly impacted and the organizations that are leading the fight were a Partnership Organization our strategy is simple get more folks like us to help the people who are really on the front lines and what you say is the value of male influence or syria gates and others 7 in defeating anti jewish legislation so as a starting point you know you talk about the religious sort of baseline of this i want to specifically name something which is this legislation is built these efforts are built on and about are all around controlling womens bodies right it is frankly sexist its massaging the stick its patriarchal whos in control of the system. Whos passing the was whos on the courts guys. I wish that more men just naturally listen to you philip right and in fact a friend of mine once said to me im mad that your organization exists because im mad it has to exist exist i tell my boyfriend to give money to planned parenthood he just not you say lets go do some fund raising for planned parenthood and comes along because now hes a part of Something Else and that was really telling for me in multiple ways one to understand that yes we arent listening and really were not listening because if youre ignoring your girlfriend theres a real problem but 2 men have to do the work of talking to each other i cant fix the society in the structure but if you and i can have a conversation in which i can help you feel more comfortable i can bring you with me i can make sure that you know how to say how to talk about the issue and then we go get a voice we can go take on those other guys you know thats whats interesting too is that. You know i think a lot of the problems to stem from the fact that men arent allowed to kind of were not in a situation where we feel comfortable talking about this especially from a young age you know and so what what steps does your group and others take in kind of building that strong male prochoice advocate who knows not to take the you know take it away from him that people should be talking to some of the conversation but can be the right kind of allies for sure for sure so we just actually released as part of this campaign the 1st ever starter kit for prochoice male allies you can go online the men for choice dot org and you can literally download a tool kit that weve created in partnership with dozens of organizations across the country so that we could take their voices translated into the language and thoughts that we have as male at identifying allies and help people through that process theres a couple things that i think are the most critical one is im saying the harm as i mentioned to is shifting away from the notion that this is purely about abortion and purely womens issue yes this is about abortion but but beyond that this is about. Freedom and its about control can a person be free who does not control their own body their own health care and their own reproductive decisions and the answer their question is unequivocal you know which also means that you and i have a freedom and they are right that to me sure you dont you need to have a lot of freedom is it right or not dont but yet this is definitely one new organization started 2015 years now with the georgia heartbeat legislation that was pre the human Life Protection act that came out of alabama basically it being all forms of abortion in practice do you think things are getting worse for women and if so what are some of the what are some of the avenues that made her choice is taking to actually try to squash some of this because were seeing it spread across the country. Do you think theyre getting worse remember based on the scope of the legislation why we had a major Supreme Court case today right being heard on at scotus that is essentially the same exact basic bill or the same exact piece of legislation that was ruled unconstitutional out of texas a few years back whats change to new dude on the Supreme Court thats you know and so if that if if the louisiana bill gets. Is allowed to move forward its going to unload unleash another wave of abortion bans so the answer your question is yes it is getting much worse for access to abortion which also means its getting much worse for access to basic Reproductive Health care where men for choice comes in as were not leading this movement we are partners and allies only and whatever you say ameesha is needed whatever the organizations in the local level tell us are necessary our job is just to get more men to show up and support that so as an example in georgia were going to launch have a launch event in georgia in a couple weeks here on march 14th all our strategy there is to mobilize people in georgia to support the Organization Organizations in georgia or and i want to thank you so much for coming good stuff from a great Great Organization keep up the great work. I read Treasure Island front to back at least 5 times when i was in 3rd grade i know. Thats the kind of stuff Home School Kids are made of guilty well that book created my overwhelming fear of the black spot a place of no return sudden death or just mysterious disappearance wont the black spot i feared wasnt real thank heavens in a galaxy far far away the black hole is hundreds of millions of years ago a massive black hole in space blue gas into the atmosphere the flare up broke records the energy from the explosion put the sun to shame. Krakatoa is the most powerful eruption in the universe some 26000 researchers have noted a cluster emitting gas about 100000 light years from the central galaxy curious as its often are very curious so they dug deeper scientists at the u. S. Naval Research Laboratory found that the cavity glowed with radio waves from electrons almost as bad as the speed of light these galactic wonders are bursting with energy from at least 240000000 years earlier. Stop and that is how were going to end our show today remember everyone in this world. Tell you all i love you. And i mean if im watching those hawks out there and im a great everybody. The corona virus is a Global Health danger that is yet to be contain this fire is also raise questions about the integrity of supply chains open borders and the weaknesses of globalization and dangerously this virus is being used as a political weapon. Were feeding our hopes our dreams our desires our money to compete discreet and what do we get back to you know like thats thats a bad deal so when this technology jumping out of this week when is that going to be helping me to keep you healthy for it or to keep me you know connected and i missed it so we will live in an area the post screen area where we will live with all these screens and it will be more in harmony or it will help us. Thousands of american men and women choose to sin of a countrys military and a decision. Every came to a complete. You know what they kill. And i see how it destroyed my life many screamed at me and he made me come in the gram my arm and he write me with his birthing curia if you take into account that women dont report because of the extreme retaliation and its probably somewhere near about half a 1000000 women have now been sexually assaulted in the us military rape is a very very traumatizing tat happen but ive never seen trauma like ive seen women who are veterans who suffered military sexual trauma reporting rape is more likely to get the victim punished to be a friend and almost 10 year career which shows very invested in and i gave a sex offender who was not even going to justice or put on the registry this is simply an issue of tower and violence male sexual predators for the large part of target whoever is there to prey upon whether thats men or women. These policymakers are grown accustomed to the idea that every single problem can be solved with money for anything why cant we solve the coronavirus of money printing the market now is starting to scratch just had a little bit and saying wait a minute thats the same so therefore valuations look like theyre going to be marked down already in correction territory on these markets down 10 percent are going to have to bear market valuations down 20 percent probably i think the likelihood is extremely high 50 to 60 percent drop thats probably a 10 to 20 percent probability of. A new front runner in the u. S. Democrats raise to take on donald trump joe biden sweep super tuesday but he is facing a backlash as well over his iraq war policy. Not very well to tell you something even more times than anything thats going to go to. Days after it heralded the peace deal with washington the taliban kills more than 20 soldiers and police in afghanistan while the u. S. Response with air strikes. And greek police clash with Asylum Seekers at the Turkish Border as well with over refugees are to spend tonight a frontier as thousands of people scrambled to reach of the e. U
