Hello there just go midnight here in moscow you with r. T. International person donald trump has approved a fresh package of sanctions against iran following the latest escalation in the region the american leader says that they will only be lifted when iran complies with u. S. Demands. Theyre losing a tremendous amount they getting heard very badly by the sanctions can in very quickly but as to whether or not they want thats up to them not up to me its totally up to them so we have the United States slapping more sanctions on the Islamic Republic of iran saying that these sanctions will continue unless the Islamic Republic complies with the demands of the United States iran has responded warning that the recent missile attacks are not the only kind of revenge theyre capable of in response to the killing of qassam solomonic its also interesting to note that in his remarks u. S. President donald trump indicated that he might be open or interested in the possibility of expanding the nato coalition to the middle east nato and then you have any middle east. Nato me i said what a beautiful name nato personnel in the region to know youre they supposed to us to be honest with you because this is an International Problem the trumpet ministration is on the defensive saying that its decision to kill top iranian general qassam solomonic was necessary they say solomonic was engaged in planning attacks against the United States that they had no choice that it was absolutely necessary for u. S. President donald trump to take this action without congressional approval the intelligence assessment made clear that no action allowing so the money to continue his plotting and his planning his Terror Campaign created more risk than taking the action that we took last week there are members of congress who have seen the classified information that is available to members of the u. S. Congress and they just dont buy it they say based on what theyve seen the evidence just isnt being presented to make the case for what pompei o and the administration insists his the unclassified version of what trumps and congress after the hits on some of money from all weve seen including the redacted parts here and the briefing the facts do not show an imminent threat it is not acceptable for. Or officials within the executive branch of government i dont care whether theyre with the cia with the department of defense or otherwise to come in and tell us that we cant debate and discuss the appropriateness of military intervention against iran its unamerican its unconstitutional in its room now many members of the u. S. Congress have argued that by taking out and killing Qassam Sallah money without congressional approval that this was inappropriate and it was essentially not not correct for the administration engage in this activity that congressional approval is required before taking these actions furthermore theyve said that the evidence for the trumpet ministration made this decision should be provided to members of congress they can see the information on which this decision was based however the administration insists it is not necessary to provide this information to the congress and furthermore that it could be a dangerous thing to do it could lead to the information being compromised when it comes to intelligence we have to protect sources and methods and so theres only a certain amount that we can share with every member of congress but those of us who have seen all the evidence know that there was a compelling case of an imminent threat now this fits a longstanding pattern of members of congress not being given and provided with the evidence to back up claims coming from the administration we heard claims from the Obama Administration accusing russia of hacking the Democratic National committee that information was not provided to members of congress other allegations against russia in ukraine have been similar furthermore at one point there were claims that iran was planning an attack against the United States that information was also not provided so it seems increasingly we see the executive branch of the u. S. Government approaching congress the legislative branch and saying just take our word for it this seems to be a long standing trend lots of lots of debate and criticism about it from members of congress but the Administration Stands by its policy. Well im often there were the death of general salim army and also the potential beginning of a new era in the region as some of the shes discussed by arties action returned c. And the Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations office in geneva in the latest episode of going underground you can watch the interview in full on saturday but here is a taste. By that definition the United States has already served pursed the reclined distinguished from better bury them from our theme of lies the rules of engagement ok but will there be any more revenge now from iran for the trump assassination of. This is the beginning of a very. I guess exciting of his or. It was a wake up call for the people in the region and beyond. This was. An action an act of selfdefense by an armed forces against the u. S. But are they told you or i think this is the beginning of. I hope not a long process that the people of our region would be get rid of. The american presence in the region because their presence in our region has brought nothing except of. Misery and war and hatred. I went tensions did spike between the u. S. And iran last week china weighed in on the killing of the iranian general. And that americas recent military adventurism violated the basic norms of International Relations and exacerbated tensions and unrest on the region we urge the United States not to abuse military force. The killing of solomon he came just a week after iran china and russia began joint navy drills in the you know should iranian officials at the time describe the size as a signal that relations between 3 states had reached a new level of honey a professor of politics of east China Normal University in shanghai told us that countries in the middle east are increasingly turning to china as u. S. Influence is on the way. I think we see increasingly persian gulf leaders looking to beijing where you see your poorest preaching has a very close relationship with israel now and they have been keeping an eye on syria since the early 19th. And i think all of these things will continue if we look at a broader trend the United States is effectively engaged in a tactical retreat. Iraq the middle east that has been ongoing since obama and i think its continuing now and this is of course going to. Create some power vacuums and then maybe try to will take a more active approach. The more western powers including the u. S. And the u. K. Claim that he crimean plane that crashed on interim on wednesday may have been accidentally shot down by an Iranian Missile canadian Prime MinisterJustin Trudeau said intelligence reports point in that direction. We have intelligence from multiple sources including our allies and our own intelligence. The evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by an arena and a surface to air missile. This may well have been an intention to. What iran has unfasten clearly rejected that the defense the head of irans Civil Aviation authority says it is scientifically impossible that the plane was hit by a missile on quarter takes a look now the storm of speculation building up in the media before any investigation has been carried. Illogical rumors thats what iran called chatter in the Mainstream Media that ukranian flight 752. 00 was no accident anonymous pentagon officials accused iran of accidentally blowing it out of the sky with nothing except their belief to back it up it all started with speculation from ukrainian authorities that a russian made missile was the culprit a rocket strike. System is among the main working theories since there was information on that into in that boat elements of the Russian Missile being found near the site of the crash it wasnt long before mainstream news outlets began to roll with it c. N. N. Boiled the cause down to either a bomb or a missile and the possibility it was an accident pushed to the background it was a photo circulating on twitter that formed the basis of a new Conspiracy Theory that a russian made missile was somehow to blame for the plane crash the account was suspended probably for spreading fake news after all who knows where when and by whom this photo was even taken but that didnt stop the b. B. C. From giving the idea some air time for the 1st one is the possibility that that plane was hit by a Russian Mission just off the takeoff the independent even published an article citing an Organization Called the o. P. s group it says people should just assume the plane was shot down like m 817 until theres evidence proving otherwise shoot 1st ask questions later sky news telegraph and newsweek also reported this ukrainian speculation and even donald trump chimed in with his expertise in aeronautical engineering and it was flying in a pretty rough neighborhood and somebody could have made a mistake as some people say it was been can it go i personally dont think thats. Even a question personally all this hype and exactly contrary to what the ukrainian president asked for. Im asking everyone to. Refrain from speculation or conspiracy it is easy hasty conclusion unverified emerged that its not at all that behind you or hes more nowadays it seems like geo politics comes before evidence of a fork in the sun your politics are coming before the evidence some people are on social media coming out now that theyre killed political bias that your political agendas are basically driving their line of this rather than wait going for the evidence 1st there are. 4 or 5 it relates to why this tragedy took place and one of them is quite simply that it was an accident and yet thats all been discounted in peoples by this fact try to pull 11 possibility of more than the others yes it is possible that it could have the right its perfectly possible it could have been a bomb placed on the plane tear out again it was that. Obviously that brings other questions to place the ball it was a missile strike how did that happen etc but people shouldnt be getting ahead of themselves here and unfortunately thats what theyre doing and i think geopolitics is driving it. Now the longest transport workers strike in france in decades has ended its 36th day it was called over planned Pension Reforms and today paris and other cities too were witnessing another major mobilization supported by people of different classes and also occupations in the french capital crowds gathered to call on the government to draw its pounds according to local unions 370000 protesters descended on the city although the interior ministry was actually a fraction of that size of the porting from the center of the protest was challenged in school. Paul weve already seen tear gas deployed on several occasions by the police as they were trying to control the crowd scene paris and the crowds are huge i just want to get you to go up. Get a sense of looking down this street this is believe or do mission and put you much all the way down to the last of the publique it is chock a block with people people whove come out to support this strike now in its 36 day this is the full day of nationwide protests and as you can see it doesnt seem as if the support is abating a tool many people thought this strike would only go on for maybe 2 weeks but hey we are not 36 they are going into the 6 week and it still looks like its getting huge amount to support in terms of have the strike is going there is more public transport that is operational at the moment in paris are we seeing trains operating fairly normally metro is operating fairly normally in the mornings and in the evenings during the large parts of the day little is operating apart from the automated lines thats 140 now in terms of the general support for this strike the polls in france show that most people are still supporting the strike people very unhappy from across the board about these changes to the Pension System to the reforms that the government wants to make it wants to put 42 different Pension Systems down into one universal system to end many of the special regimes it says that yes actually its still offering many special regimes to the police to sometimes but work is set to in either be destroying get a strike moving to try and get the impasse 8 to cross that the other big issue is raising the retirement age up to 64. 00 its currently 62. 00 a way in front so they want to add another 2 years on to that but of course that wont affect anybody whos retiring in the next 17 years say the government they say it will only affect those who turn 18 in the next few years but people are furious here theyre saying you know they dont want to sell out that should. Speeches that run childrens features and thats why they determined to come out into the streets to keep protesting tensions are rising here towards the end of the protest they just want to get you to have a look back down there thats towards sun lazard in the center of paris you can see those crowds of tear gas in price dont tear gas still raining down on the protesters as the police try and control the situation here you can hear the people in the crowd sound shouting everyone hates the police thats a chant we hear quite often but you can really feel that tension right shooting up here in paris at the end of the protest that has been largely peaceful a tear gas has been deployed throughout it and we have seen some individuals arrested individuals who apparently throwing objects to the police and that sounds like some grenades but it could also be tear gas coming down this but you might be able to see the lights coming up on the fly as it sounds like that was a sound grenade going off that people saying that they wont get even live to enjoy their retirement and theyre determined to stay out on the streets and to make sure people know they are unhappy this is a protest now 36 days this is the 4th day of nationwide protests across france i know as you can see it doesnt look like its about to be broke. Hundreds of Mental Health patients are reportedly being sexually assaulted him except wars in Englands NationalHealth Service single sex wards see 3 times fewer reports of abuse yet despite ministers pledging to scrap makes wards guidelines to still alive shared spaces to exist there were 1000. 00 to 19. 00 complaints of Sexual Assault in mixed wards between april 27th st and october last year and that is a rate of one attack a day grant was one of the victims she gave us a story. Oh i was on a mental outward roll my depression and anxiety there is very very low i was in this particular hospital. And in the past couple of weeks mine met a blast and became a stranger it was a stout man but he worked nights he comes on time to talk to me that i didnt really think much of it. But over time and he just became more sunny close to me joking to me always in my gut your know it wasnt sad it was the bus but you. Should note event im used and you might. Even just touching my head and my own was it was well and i didnt. Think it was appropriate. Or weeks went by and he slowly became close to. My extended l. Section is there are many tips. You know you dont seem to be well great. The parliament of health and social care has responded by saying it will not tolerate sexual abuse in the n. H. S. But political activists linda bell auster say it is disgraceful that the decision to axe mixed wards has still not being carried at. I think its a its about 20 years certainly 15 years ago that. Hospitals made an undertaking that they would get rid of mixed wards frankly the government ought to be ashamed that allowing british hospitals to it to not carry out an agreement that they made which was that there would be wards for women and wards for men and they shouldnt be there should not be mixed wards we fought very hard to ensure that women had safety and security so. For no better reason that we could speak to each other about issues of the of of concern i mean lots of women would be in hospital because of you know reproductive issues. Of old age and you couldnt necessarily do that in a mixed ward lots of men prefer to be in wards in which matters of their you know the reproductive organs can be explored with other men in a way that is not appropriate in front of most women well i certainly think that in a 1st world country that we should have wards for women and wards for men. Meanwhile apple is now automatically scanning its users photos to tackle child abuse the companies director of global privacy made the revelation during a conference. We are utilizing some took knowledge is to help screen for child sexual abuse material according to apples web site image matching technology is now being used to detect abusive images but so far the company has not explained exactly how the process works and questions have been raised over how data encryption on the ike i Cloud Storage system is being bypassed the tech giant made a change to its previously policy last year which warned that it could scan images for child abuse material. We may also use your personal information for account in the work security purposes including in order to protect services for the benefit of all uses and prescreening in scanning uploaded content for potentially illegal content including Child Sexual Exploitation material. Ok lets talk about the price and cons of all of this we can cross live now to bill mean hes a previously activist and Technology Expert and also Chadwick Moore hes a journalist and commentator and very welcome chadwick if i could start with you i know youre against this why you against it if it does help to stop child abuse. Well of course everyone is for stopping child abuse and thats not the issue here its the i simply im not buying it at the company i dont believe that apple really cares about fighting crime i dont know why they would you know they just entered the Live Streaming business so if they want to catch pedophiles they could just drag a big net in hollywood its more they would with this with this with this technology which maybe occasionally you hear about it at seeing a pedophile somebody whos. Putting kiddie porn out there but im just not believing that apples intentions here when you when you read the policy the update to the policy all it says is that they can scan all your images flip through all your data and look for potentially illegal activity including child pornography what does that mean thats terrifying language theyre going to what else of them looking for smoking a joint is that next i dont i dont trust these companies i just think its ever encroaching more and more into our privacy into owning our data into finding out even more information about us i think its scary and i dont think that appals me in the business of Law Enforcement ok lets bring in bill here because i know what chadwick said will be sort of echoed by many people watching this who will be afraid about what apple can actually say when youre an expert Technology Expert why shouldnt we be afraid. Well this is possibly the best use of the current Available Technology in order to crack down the posting of serious child abuse images where people may be concerned that paul is rifling through all of the photos and all of the data this isnt actually the case the type of technology that were looking at here simply is used to take a fingerprint of a particular image once an image is known to include some child abuse imagery once that is a known that a fingerprint is taken out of that sort of hash of the photo this is stored in a very simple string and this is compared against any other future upload by using this it means there is a very low computing overhead which means its very efficient for processing the millions of photos that are posted all the time but also it can be done without actually having a copy of the photo locally to you and the technology that is in use is really clever also it doesnt necessarily mean a whole can actually see your photos because a lot of the imagery in a lot of the data that is on the apple servers is actually encrypted this hashing technology can actually sift through those images and test them against sets of known hashes of known fingerprints of these type of images without actually i mean critical dean crippling them images themselves and therefore there is little to fear from the privacy front and i think its possibly the best combination of effective enforcement and Privacy Protection chadwick does that make you feel better. No it doesnt and im not sure where bills going to information hes wrong but from what i understand we dont actually know what technology the apple is using we dont and the language of the policy doesnt talk about hashes which is what a technology called photo d. N. A. Uses which is used by Google Twitter facebook its used by the center for missing. Exploited children so that technology specifically targets child porn and look for missing and exploited children and its very very clear that the only thing they look for apple is not clear about that apple says illegal pot possible potentially illegal activity including child porn why cant they just say child porn why cant they be up front with the technology that theyre using and the they dont talk about hashes in their policy theyre talking specifically about scanning images i think the word scanning is enough to give people pause and i dont know how that they would be getting in there too you know im a Technology Expert but i dont know how they would be getting in there with encryption unless theyre doing it before the images are encrypted now this is all getting a bit you know. Nerdy and its not something that im an expert in like your other guest however i will say im just simply not buying it these companies are know everything about us they know more about us and continue to want to own and know more about us than that i think even Technology Experts realize and we just keep giving them partly these permissions because if they all they have to do is say well were going to like were going to fight people who are distributing child porn and then everyone runs through it but thats not exactly what the language says. This is fair enough because perhaps its right apple hasnt done a good job rating explaining this Technology Many people have the things that chadwick does and that doesnt seem to be at the moment play around says. I totally agree with that apple could be a lot more transparent in the way that explains what it is doing in the uk to the technology that its using the phone to deny software which is the type of software that is using is possibly the only solution that you could use if you wouldnt simply have the processing and the computing overhead to be able to. Scan full photos against each other in the kind of way that people imagine you have to use some form of hashing technology but most problems are valuable one is the. Photo d. N. A. Technology that was developed more than microsoft and as john has explained it is absolutely credible in its use of this kind of hashing technique to crack down on these kind of images and therefore the time to think is only to be applauded i wish that this is the approach that taking they could be a lot more transparent they may actually be using exactly this technology or they may have a version of the technology they have developed themselves but its unlikely that theyre actually been scanning the entire photo and comparing that with every other photo in existence because you simply wouldnt have the computing overhead to do this in terms of the encryption actually this kind of technology the photo d. N. A. Technology that we work works with home or for. Home. Phone tillich encryption and therefore what you can actually do without an encrypted in the data you can actually pass the data using the hash ing technology and you can pick up the same strings that you would looking at a technique and its an an encrypted photo and therefore its not a case that you have to do this before the encryption although you have to break the encryption if you use the type of hashing technologies if you have the right encrypt then it can be done with our complete privacy in mind i mean im a very outspoken privacy campaigner and i hold many Many Companies to account when they overstep the mark in terms of abuse this is not the moment you know one calling from our lack of trying to let you explained it bill he will decide whether its child abuse or not. Well actually some of the credible organizations that chad mentioned earlier are the hind the photo. Sets up and what they have these a library of images that have been seen and that have been deemed to be child abuse images it is those. That your comparing the how she gains its a bit like having a fingerprint database works really really well if you have those fingerprints on the final we dont have a particular thing of something new thats appeared you cant do anything with it lets bring in chad with chad we just respond to what you heard there how you. I but id love to know how successful is all of this technology if you look up cases that photo d. N. A. Has been used to catch people distributing kiddie porn there was one this year there was one in 2015 theres one in 2014 i mean there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of these images out there these disgusting people who are passing them around but yet you never hear about arrests its very very rare so whats the point i mean im sure that local law just general Law Enforcement general policing the tools they have is probably doing a much better job to catch these people you never hear about you know somebody arrested because a google turned them in or facebook turned them in i dont think you can hear a lot of apple so whats the point if its not just even more encroachments under the guise of doing something that we both agree is very very good like trying to stop these these predators and these criminals i just dont understand it doesnt seem very effective or useful and it seems like a scam to me just last which even got 20 seconds i dont. Its not a scam it has been deeds taken any techniques will use with the question. Its a really violent video once they had the video there managed to prevent people real plugging that video over a 1000000 times it has been used effectively with violence with pornography and many many images of me prevent it and is the best way of doing it. Ok gentlemen the point well leave it were going to turn could still cheap i thought was bill me previously activist in Technology Expert no said Chadwick Moore there on the left and commentator thank you. Just going half past midnight here must go back again its healthy
