We cross to john burnett he is managing director and founder of one empire group a business and political Consultancy Company all right Jonathan Cross liberals in effect that means you can jump in anytime you want and i always appreciate daniel make out of that we go to you include you inspired this program with an interview you did a few days ago and with this is what caught my eye this one sentence here it was a great interview but this sentence stuck out the u. S. Has ceased being a republic and has become a National Security state elaborate on what you mean go ahead. Well the National Security state you know really essentially formed with a 947 National Security act which created the cia the n. S. A. And really created a secret underground government that is not really is not really subject to democracy and i saw a lot of this when i was on capitol hill and in fact the term deep state was coined by a good friend of mine on capitol hill michael often but on capitol hill you had Permanent Committee staff 6 members who are not subject to democratic elections they wrote the legislation they worked together regardless of party they were beholden to special interests i remember sitting there and having a bill dealing with the middle east and one of the permanent staff or says dont worry about of this is a pact proved it happened all the time they were they were they were subject to special interest not to democracy these people you know politicians come and go representatives or elected or unelected but these people stay forever and theres a real theres a lot of it on capitol hill but certainly as elsewhere in government as well ok well richard let me go to you i mean that and you know if you like the term or not deep state it seems like a lot of people in the Intelligence Community are at the forefront from front and center of these recent fake scandals russia gate now ukraine gate i mean its all its f. B. I. Its cia its the Justice Department its they seem to be intruding upon the democratic process here and they can they seem to do with a lot of immunity at least up until list point theres some reports coming out maybe that will change but these people are you know weaponized thing their positions in power and i dont want to get partisan here because this happened during the Obama Administration these figures here and went into the Trump Administration im worried about institutions as daniel said politicians come and go go ahead richard. You know unlike perhaps some of you on this show i tend to side with the u. S. Intelligence community this is in contrast to our distinguished president over putin i tend to think that when our Intelligence Community and say the Bipartisan SenateIntelligence Committee concludes that the russians did indeed again present doesnt buy this but every other able minded person does did indeed interfere with the us elections i tend to accept that as fact not Adult Fiction about it is implicit in which richard youre not really but youre not really answering my question here ok i mean if you look at the investigations that have been done with these scandals here there are people facing indictments people were fired for lying people were on our investigation for. A number of things that that should have been part of their their mandate i mean theyre supposed to. Execute policy and not create it and we theres an ample amount of evidence that these people did this let me go i know youre frustrated here but lets get everybody in 1st john you want to react to that and then well make it a free for all go ahead john. I was never thought i would say this but i actually agree with richard in the sense that i think that we were stablished on law and order were missing the order part with respect to some of our Law Enforcement agencies some of them lean right some of them lean left however were in Law Enforcement youre supposed to protect uphold the principles in the safety and National Security of the country and not lean to your own political leanings in thoughts and views and i think thats what were seeing here with respect to the whistleblower and some other things that transpired in the past and listless actually be honest here i think that people were so used to business as usual and under this president President Trump hes not business as usual hes business. Unusual right because hes saying you know what there are things that have been going on for so long and we have to correct that we have to make sure that theres fear ballots with respect to our economy with respect to our political interactions and so forth thats making a lot of people uncomfortable including the Law Enforcement community ok you know daniel but theres an ample amount of evidence that the Intelligence Community has gone after donald trump i mean it theres so much evidence out there it really boggles the mind and some of the behaviors of some people in high positions of government that are not elected as you pointed out here and what bothers me is that this is normalized then what sitting president can feel safe with the Intelligence Community looking over their shoulder i mean this is this is a Chilling Effect again id like to keep this nonpartisan here go ahead daniel well what boggles my mind is seeing otherwise intelligent people repeating the mantra i trust the National CommunityNational Intelligence agency is i trust the National Intelligence and these are the people that have lied to us for 40 years they are. It isnt a war in iraq theyve lied to us content that is their job even pompei was said much as to lie cheat and steal that is the job of the intelligence agencies lets drill down on the claim that they concluded that the russians interfered in the elections hes talking about the 2017 Intelligence Committee assessment not an i. E. E. E. Assessment a whole new product invented out of whole cloth by john brennan who admittedly had a handpicked group of analysts determined that russia interfered in the elections the same john brennan who says that President Trump is a traitor hes a tool of putin this is absurd theres never been any proven evidence that the russian government interfered in our elections at all so you can believe what you want but facts speak for themselves ok richard go ahead jump in so lets lets talk about facts lets talk about facts my comp aoe when he was who we now actually i guess trust a secretary of state i dont head of the cia i dont even let his voice he let his voice through the voice of the head of National Intelligence and otherwise to say yes indeed the russians did interfere with the 26th elections dick cheney called ok i have to newark star yeah but richard you can excite stepping my question and you can see the deep state you scared of it ok but you keep sidestepping it here there andy mccabe was fired for lack of candor ok because he lied to his own people fired him it wasnt donald trump that did it ok and they want to look at security look at i hope they want to pry i hope they do i hope i hope they prosecute all of them ok if you show that there is equal justice under the law and not because you have a special card in your pocket if youre in the deep state meaning you can do whatever you want i want to protect institutions richard not people go ahead richard. S. That dont like the way President Trump is going about handling it hes trying to work with other governments hes also trying to say you know what there are certain things that the u. S. Can work with russia on with respect to the middle east and other areas around the world so its a delicate dynamic i think some on one side they want him to actually be more forceful the other side the one who to be more strategic hes the leader of the free world hes trying to find that delicate dynamic i think he found it and i think hes also trying to work through ukraine and other areas to try to get. To the bottom of it to make sure that we can make sure make sure that we can actually protect our electoral process as well as National Security ok i dont hold with richard dont my budget one minute to go. Down you know dont you think its really hypocritical i mean im not im going to give up on this they keep repeating it and they believe its their religion thats fine i agree that theres been no concrete evidence of russian meddling but we can just put that to a side it were not going to get me to make any progress on it i dont get any oh but daniel. You know you have american senators petitioning the Ukrainian Government for dirt on donald trump but when donald trump asks about. Illegal behavior of a member of the American Government former member thats called you know colluding and and being traitorous but other people do this all of the time or hear all of those who make it into it not Daniel Daniel go right ahead before we go to the burka. I mean anyone who sees a smoking gun in this phone call is smoking something lets put it that way and also lets make a distinction between russia and the russian government more was directed by a judge to stop talking about the Internet Research agency as a russian government because theres no evidence its connected to the russian government thats an important distinction ok that was perfect they were brought out of time for this part of the program gentlemen were going to go to a short break and after that short break well continue our discussion on the deep state state with certainty. Do you find it bothersome again im trying not be partisan here im a very partisan person you know that but im trying not to be on this program here because im interested in institutions and ideas not just the fate of certain politicians but richard do you find it disturbing that high level members of the Intelligence Community leave the Intelligence Community and instantly get a job on cable and they still have these security clearances and one has to wonder when you think of clapper and brennan and people like that they have a secure. The clearance they get information then they can leak it to their employer and then theyre asked to rick to report on it i mean i find that extremely uncomfortable because its very circular and it is for their own. To their own personal advantage ok i mean because they have animist towards the president of the United States and were going to do you good to use all their access to top level information that none of us have to use against them and for their own personal profit do you have a problem with that richard go ahead. Im wondering whether youre as equally disturbed of the people have left the Trump Administration whove had security clearances have gone to fox news who use it to their benefit and i agree with you i agree with you i agree with you completely absolutely agree with you and im saying. You know and im saying that if any one of them disclosed classified information on the air or in some inappropriate way that that clearance would be yanked and now were going to do i i dont i dont buy your premise which is they get something they shouldnt have and they put it out on the air i mean thats i mean yeah but i mean what are people want to believe but richard dont you yeah i think it would it kind of agree that these former officials tend to go to end this n. Political culture message all of the time and i think its a distortion and i dont think the American People are very well informed by this at all its self serving for these Cable Networks and for these former officials go ahead joan perhaps the most surprising thing is all out in the open where all d of serving it and im not sure why richard cannot agree with the fact that they are profiting from it and also that theyre not disclosing the information and the confidential reports and top secret reports right but they know how to craft a message they know how to craft talking points around it to to actually push a certain narrative and theyre doing that on the media platform not just regular media prominent media platforms in essence pushing propaganda the same thing that they accuse. Other nations are doing and i think that that is the most detrimental thing throughout this whole thing and as you pointed out theyre actually profiting from it and its a disgrace you know daniel is there any remedy for all of this at all because a it seems to me that we had you gave the lineage of the of the of the cia and the Intelligence Community here but you know there is a marriage now with the with the media and political elites and it seems to me there is there in less we theres a lot where it what you have a top a top secret clearance you cant. Personally benefit from it for 5 years or Something Like that which i may be a remedy right there but it seems to get just worse and worse i mean this recent quote unquote whistleblower but by any definition its not a whistleblower at all ok but this seems to have been crafted by members of congress shift and these people like this and it is a functionary in the cia again all of these all of these scandals coming from from within the deep state these are the characters that are creating it or generating it because as far as im concerned i know richards going to disagree with me and thats fine thats why we like having him on the program but russia gate was one big coats ochs them the most report showed he didnt even know what was in his own report i mean what it what an embarrassing failure and now this thing with the ukraine gate in this quote unquote whistleblower i mean its not even under the terms and conditions of the whistleblower he doesnt fit the definition or she ok but they change the rules they change the rules they keep changing the goalpost here and its so its transparently obvious richard i was i was sorry daniel.
