You know its been a Long Time Coming regardless if you were for impeachment because of early sort of controversies in the trump and ministration or because of what you thought was collusion with russia or now because of the suit crane thing you know its sort of a drip drip drip and it has a cumulative effect of every democrats going to find their reason for or against impeachment but theres a lot more reasons and there are against but the question really for democrats too is this is this is a political play that they are making hoping that it will negatively impact not just donald trump but republicans down ballot in 2020 and recent polling shows that theres a lot of people that are pleased with President Trump and once again i just dont know and listen im not the biggest fan the guy ill probably vote for him in 2026 i see no other options but i voted for i wrote an Evan Mcclellan in 2016 and. You know it was disappointing withdrawn from the very beginning of his campaign so im not like. Im not going to be a trump apologist here today but i really do think that this is a stretch for democrats and they the transcript doesnt show anything that says hey this is a quid pro quo thing i think if you read the transcript and you have the donald trump voice in your head youre like yeah this sounds like something he would do this isnt a surprise to me because he you know talks about dumb stuff all the time and makes promises all the time and attacks people all the time and ask for favors all the time yeah it sounds like donald trump impeach him right but i mean i guess the question is that what youre saying is that this is a political play and do you agree or do you think this is politics or do you think this is actually clearly a violation of the law i mean is it or is it not against the law to ask a foreign power to essentially interfere or provide aid in an election well look impeachment is a Political Tool in the tool box that the constitution is laid out this isnt some you know where the house of representatives guss to find some sort of crime that donald trump is committed it is a political you know sort of tool that you use and so in the sense that this is political the answer is yes but you know for a lot of these House Democrats you know some may find it because they felt like he broke the law or theres evidence that he broke the law or theres evidence that hes asking a foreign nation for a favor so look up some op research on an opponent you know its you know when youre donald trump you beat 16 other republicans for the nomination you beat Hillary Clinton the former secretary of state her husband worst president ukraine in 2016 and tried it an hour and now hes asked to get to that hes asking one of the smallest least powerful countries in the world for help i mean you know this guy who else is he asked for help i mean if he was so easily you know induced to asking the ukraine steven kull to hold there and i think that that he was started with russia didnt quite work out the way he hoped so he moved to the adjacent territory which is the ukraine and since thats not working out he was going to ask for poland. Then hell be producing beautiful there so lets speak to that for a moment though do you not think that this was a crime to ask a foreign power to intercede in the election i think if there is a quid pro quo it is definitely a crime i think what he did was shady if i were president of the United States no im not announcing my race sorry mom. I would not be doing this i would not be speaking that way but if you go back there has been a pattern of if we released all president ial transcripts from all of their phone calls with foreign leaders you would see this love of the communication that happened when you read through the transcript it be interesting if we could get audio released because we all know that tone matters ive been married for almost 10 years tone matters whether youre a politician or sitting next to somebody having a conversation to debate and i think that that would be an interesting thing to see as well and michael lisa stay right there more politicking after the break. Welcome back to politicking on mathew cook sitting in for larry king continuing the conversation with the Political Panel they are krauss conservative commentator and contributor at the daily wire and democratic strategist michael to you they join me in studio so were talking about whether or not its clear that donald trump broke the law and do you think michel that its important to establish the quid pro quo which is what we were just discussing i mean absolutely but you know you have a president has probably had hundreds of conversations with foreign leaders and this is the 1st time were having a whistleblower complaint filed by a member of the trumpet ministration this is someone that works in the Trump White House or in the Trump Intelligence Community and he or she is finding it so you know troubling that he or she filed this whistleblower complaint to the you know to the higher ups at Inspector General this is the 1st time this has happened and so thats why were seeing the transcript thats why you know were having the National Intelligence director come and speak to congress i mean these are unprecedented things because of an unprecedented complaint for someone that works in the Trump White House i would say that one we dont know what department the whistleblower was from and 95 percent of federal employees back in 2016 donated to Hillary Clinton and we all know because were in the political realm that there are a lot of bureaucratic and administrative jobs that are held over from one president ial president to the next so this could be somebody and its interesting that this whistleblower has hired an attorney with ties to Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton there is a political narrative here i think this is a political game here and i would be fascinated to find out more and i really would warn democrats like dont forget what happened with bill clinton he still insanely popular after republicans impeached him in the ninetys this could end up backfiring on them do you think that the the they are moving that palosi specifically is moving toward impeachment due to pressure from the progressive wing or do you think that this. Is actually a strategic move on her part does she think it can happen or maybe even a 3rd option that shes just that shes doing this because she actually thinks trump violated the law i think that shes hoping that trump violated the law but i think that option and theres probably a combined there she has been getting a lot of pressure and i think when she saw some of those moderates like the after mention 7 that wrote that op ed in the Washington Post earlier this week saying hey were from purple districts we have experience with military and. Im sorry the Intelligence Community and we think this should move forward that was kind of like a final straw for her but people dont understand under the articles of impeachment a vote actually has to be called for and she hasnt called for a vote at this point so there is like this oh big news nancy pelosi is calling for impeachment but theres no vote on the calendar right its an inquiry and why do you think shes doing it oh a b. Or c. Well i think its an inquiry i think you know the speaker has shown leadership going slow and methodical and uncovering one thing at a time and in the last 67. 00 days weve uncovered this will so blore complaint what else is there to uncover as you have these separate subcommittees or separate committees sort of investigate and thats all were asking for thats all that shes asking to do and there are folks saying that theyre in in favor of the inquiry of impeachment and some are saying theyre in favor of appeasement now but what the speaker is doing is just methodical one foot in front of the other and is going to uncover every mosque see and moldy stone that shop has left in his wake and he is ready for it i mean listen the money so he said i think saying this is going to help him i mean look thats that is traditional trump playbook is whatever is happening is yes help him and whatevers happening is a good thing but do you think that all the well whatever has happened whether it was the russian vest a geisha and whether it was sessions or you know being forced out whether it was the meal or stuff every single thing that has come in his wake every stone that has been unturned has actually helped him i think the only thing that has and is there was some a. Fact on the midterms but statistically incumbent president s tend to win and really this could end up taking out his potential you know opponent in 2020 and i think really if it ends up being Elizabeth Warren we already know the playbook that hes going to play with him and now he has joe biden potentially out of the way for him he thinks this is a win and for the rest of us well just have to sit back and why do you think its true what do you i think that potentially be a win i said in 2016 i actually think that the democrats should have run joe biden because at the time he would have been a better candidate against donald trump than that Hillary Clinton do you agree look everything donald trump turns to stone and you know like she said he was out there for claiming that the midterms are going to be fantastic in the number of seats theyre going to win and then they lost a special you know with doug jones and so when it comes to you know whats happening with voters and where you know theyre the direction that theyre going in for democrats to win a midterm in a low turnout sort of midterm race thats thats not the usual way it works and so what were seeing in 2020 is a massive number of folks invigorated turned on in the sense that theyre going to come out and vote not just in the primaries but in november ultimately and i think im going to be a one term president and if impeachment happens so be it but let the process play out because thats why we have these checks and balances in our system do you think that donald trump is a one term president not today like looking at what i say looking at everything is falling today no lets talk about the facts of the case that i mean if im confused about a lot of americans are i dont think that should let us off the hook i think that we should actually take a moment and and find out and learn 1st selves what we think actually happened with our president this is what has pushed us over the line whether its a Political Action or one thats thats based on integrity where we are officially entering into an impeachment inquiry and the president is saying that that hunter biden and joe biden acting as Vice President had a shady conflict of interest with the ukraine. And want an investigation into that well specifically joe biden had bragged before that he had gotten that prosecutor removed from the ukraine you know from her position over there to joe bidens credit this woman was shady i mean there were other things that she was doing that were incredibly shady the problem and this was there and this wasnt a huge unilateral decision that by obama had made this was something that. They knew to be your idea and even if they all thought this process by initiating agd about and here we have President Trump saying this see she seemed like a very fair prosecutor i mean but the problem is is that biden has bragged about making it happen did he make it happen for his son because she was looking into him who knows so theyre not budging on those that its not theres also allegedly millions dollars of u. S. Aid that he held over their heads saying you got to get rid of her youre not getting that aid that is quid pro quo. Sort of but if we if we get to them if we get into the fact well lets lets talk about that so michael do you want to shirt take the ball look ok 100 biden hasnt been accused of anything i mean just because the president is saying hey everyone look at the shiny thing and lets put the controversy on their lap doesnt mean he hasnt the f. B. I. Isnt looking at 100 biden the f. B. I. Isnt looking into Vice President joe biden in the f. B. I. Looks at things when theyre scribble evidence of a crime being committed there is no evidence of a crime being committed whether internationally or here on american soil what we do know is that the i. M. F. The European Union everyone wanted this prosecutor gone and the president the only one purpose for what purpose was she wasnt she was she she was shady yeah she was not a legitimate and i was in there was an issue but there she but was she investigating the company that hired hunter biden was a board member so thats this is where you know once again not as a trump apologist this is where there is a gray area is because there had been rumors that she was on her way out the door before biden allegedly pressured the Ukrainian Government to get rid of her. This was someone that i would i wouldnt i mean if i would encourage the democrats and definitely but the Biden Campaign released everything and give us clarity here especially if you think it will help take down trump like wouldnt he want to do that for the good of the nation if the European Union wanted her out if the i. M. F. Wanted her out if the current president of ukraine wanted her out then shes out i mean just because someone saying Something Else and just because the president is saying that Vice President biden did this with his son doesnt make it so it will take about 5 and i think its also though he didnt hes except hes bragged numerous times i believe theres a video of him bragging about how he got rid of that prosecutors but not for his son it would it would actually if you believe in the record the facts are that biden was was coming down against this prosecutor wanting this prosecutor removed because the prosecutor was lax in their prosecution of corruption i think they and i think that that company would have been of course one of the companies investigated i think theres a gray area i think in your dispute that once again i think that if the Biden Campaign has other information that will help democrats defeat donald trump i would think since hes running for president the United States and thinks that he could do a better job than donald trump he should release that information what do you think then if donald trump was normal going to be in the situation no normal person has been president so lets talk about one of my favorite people Rudy Giuliani the president s personal attorney whats your assessment of giuliani are you in favor of his behavior as her positions and so forth i have not been a fan of Rudy Giuliani since he left the mayor office in new york city why is that i think that listen he is im a conservative like im a constitutional conservative im incredibly pro one a 2 way and very prolife giuliani has never been those giuliani goes i think where the paycheck is and i think that is very clear that his allegiance is to donald trump and the trump family and probably the trump wallet do you agree michel. I agree this is where united. We found it its just its just weird where you have someone who claims to be this close to the president is somehow an attorney and yet he goes on these Television Shows and gets everyone in more trouble every single time he goes on these controversies are up because of something he said but hes loyal to the president and we all know that donald wants loyalty more than anything else so thats why he can get away with it so do you think that he actually hurts donald trump or does it is this part of the tough long i think that it think that there is always going to be the 2 sides so for the left the people on the left they will take the Rudy Giuliani sound bites and they will be awful but for the diehard donald trump fans there to take the Rudy Giuliani soundbites and be like who are ah thats amazing so the question is what are the people middle thinking so what about bill weld and some of the other republicans who are challenging donald trump and want to have a primary system something that donald trump was in favor of in 2016 i dont think that joe walsh or bill weld are going anywhere.
