International by the way we should be bringing the weekly around of a big story the last seven days but theres been a tragedy the south after noon in russia its kevin i went down hawkins with the downs across the russian news wires coming in to bring you all the latest as we know it the trial it is a plane has crashed with sixty five passengers and six crew on board just after it took off from dawn of that every airport one of the main airports around moscow is the first pictures from the site of the crash the video was apparently shot by locals there the village where the plane came down is located about sixty kilometers southeast of moscow from where were talking to you now Emergency Services really struggling with some snow they say to reach the area there because of the exceptionally heavy snowfall that the whole regions had to encounter over the last week a bit more detail about the plane as mentioned and turn off one for eight owned by the surat off Airline Company pretty new plane made its maiden flight back in two thousand and ten the specific model of plane can reach speeds of around eight hundred twenty code. It is now its a regional flyer capable of carrying up to eighty passengers on board now done so youre much more fluent in russian me youre across the why is there been so much speculation and information coming in over the last. Two and a half hours since this is really happened first thing to say as thoughts of course so strongly with the family the friends the loved ones of all these poor people who have perished as the passengers and the crew we saw really harrowing show earlier on the law the family members of it going to all scare poor that was the final destination about two and a half hours away from moscow and theyve also become to domodedovo airport as well we saw one man literally howling it was he was so terribly upset theres going to be a lot more of that of course i suppose for these poor people who come to terms of whats happened this afternoon. Initial information on the ground when this plane went down about its just after six in the evening in that plane took off just after two thirty in the afternoon. Initially people on the scene there said they saw that plane on fire so of course initial speculation it could have been some kind of engine failure because it was in the initial climb wasnt it wasnt our a six and a half thousand feet or so it going up to about thirty thousand feet or more for this two hour eleven minute average flight that it takes whats being said that early days we know but what other theories are coming to the fore at the moment about what went wrong while theres been theory after theory of initial one of course being that potential for a midair collision with a helicopter that has now been ruled out at least by the Russian Postal Service now that came in about two hours ago initially it seemed to be almost key but again it was quickly dismissed what came in all that the eyewitnesses describe seeing a large amount of mail and postup the crash site scattered over a wide area as well as debris from some sort of other aircraft potentially a helicopter leading to that speculation that there could have been some sort of interaction some sort of incident involving a post the russian. Midair collision potentially thats what was being said another post of russia have released a statement saying in that region they have no helicopters belonging to them at all. And i suppose a regional flyer like this russia such a huge country russia post all just to get posed to run any kind of mail depends on planes depends on flying it around doesnt it so i suppose this plane very normally could have been carrying just domestic policy while the other thing that the post of russia confirmed was that there was about twenty kilos of poster board that plane that explains obviously that post scattered over the debris area the latest theory to come in this is over four minutes four five minutes ago that the pilot requested an Emergency Landing. In the southeast of moscow we were close to the crash site as well the press service of the airport they have now said that the pilot did not make contact with them or with the idea of it which was where the plane took off from initially so that the theory lifting information already going to be out right now early on youre looking at flight tracker that plane got up to six thousand six thousand feet whatever in the initial climb engines on full thrust what happened then was a fall of about three hundred meters or so very rapidly before the plane again flew up words to that height of one thousand one hundred before dropping right down and disappearing off radar going to control problems a bit major control problems that he did and that does fit in with those reports coming in of an exploding engine and with the eyewitness accounts of the plane being on fire as well as we said the single engine failure isnt usually considered a catastrophic event if its continuing thats the thing when these fan blades snaps off in the time when those engines are given out for work the worry is although in theory it should be very safe the worry is and they have been cases of this for a few cases in the past that its been contained it goes through a fuel line hence that might tie in with the fire that we were hearing about or the some kind of explosion or it can also go through one of those hydraulic lines as well although of course theyre all backup systems something major majorly obviously went wrong. Very early on that we dispatched our Senior CorrespondentLaura Gallagher hes literally just got to the site in the last half hour or so you had to get to the last. I think about a kilometer away from where this plane is going to and you cant get any further i can see the police behind you and you literally walk. To get to where you are we can see this heavy snow there the rescue teams are having a real problem getting through to the field of the planes come down tonight just like you. Were this is this is the issue access to the crash site the crash site itself is about a kilometer or thereabouts behind me but the plane crashed in a field in a field full of snow very deep snow obviously nobody was clearing that there the work that theyre doing rescuers now we know there are about one hundred fifty rescuers there towards your vehicles its difficult because again the snow it is still slowing as well which might be worsening the situation but as i say nobody gets beyond this checkpoint there are multiple Police Cordons that there is keeping journalists even local villagers as well as all civilians out of this area in order to ease the work of rescuers to give them access to the crash site itself again a kilometer so behind me its getting dark its just gotten dark but im sure you know the have the have the lighting and Everything Else we know you there were sixty five passengers yet theres been no official statement yet has there from the Emergency Rescue is there obviously got their hands full you told you told me earlier on there are one hundred fifty rescuers on the scene there about twenty engines or ambulances exception as well. Just to be clear here has it been completely ruled the there are no survivors because thats the most crucial thing at this time you know the hope is may be somebody is still alive if you land in these conditions and youre injured the hope isnt good but is it officially ruled out that everyones perished on that plane or not. Kevin i was just talking to a rescuer that was passing passing by us he said no survivors its difficult to imagine surviving a crash like this with the jets you know flying that hundreds of kilometers hundreds of kilometers an hour plummeting all but into the ground you know the forces here the momentum they all but preclude any survivors sixty five passengers six crew members seventy one and all these rescuers their colleagues psychologists working with the with the relatives of the people that perished in this tragedy in moscow in the orem border region of moscow orenburg region which is where this jet was flying to the city of all of their hard work but again no survivors its the only thing i know its just so its making the situation even worse for the rescuers the truck the wreckage is there any thought about how big the truck the wreckage is there any thought about how big the deadly site is because the investigators are going to be as we know looking at that very closely depending on how the plane broke up if it broke up in the air its like itll be a big debris field might be several kilometers or more if it impacts the ground pretty much intact or something it will be a small debris field thats partly really important in the early stages of trying to work out what went wrong what she know about the size of the impact. Well details are still scant the rescuers and everyone else they arent letting much out to theyre still this is the early stages the early hours theyre trying to trying to sift through the wreckage trying to see what exactly happened the size of the crash site i havent been told i havent heard anything from official sources or rescue as rescuers here but number of theories have been debunked such as that there was a midair collision with a helicopter the rescuers here is well theyve issued an official statement protege told us they found no evidence no parts of a day brief from a helicopter so that was so that was a mere rumor the other thing of course you were discussing earlier on is that there were reports that the pilot issued the pilot called in technical difficulties immediately after takeoff the aircraft was in the air for merely minutes but they got a bit more of a technical difficulties and. Apparently no. You are going. To hear perino thats been denied by as you go skip or they said thats not far from the crash site they say the reports that a pilot requested an Emergency Landing in chicago airport officials are saying is not true so again thats a bit of conflicting information while youre there though so no its quite hard for you to be on on line were hearing the Emergency Ministry now saying that one of those crucial black boxes those flights data recorders it may be the data recorder the tech side or the other box the voice data recorder that listens in crucially to what those pilots are saying its important to find the two but apparently the merge and see ministry has already said now that they have found one of those black box it boxes we dont know which theres also a line coming through as well now the Emergency Ministry saying that they are. Now discovering pieces of or. Wreckage they found at least two bodies in the parts of the fuselage there but of course there were many more on that doomed flight sixty five passengers and six crew on that flight number six w. Seven zero three departed Moscow DomodedovoInternational Airport just about four hours ago just little bit less than four hours ago didnt make it too far was only in the air for about seven minutes or so more at the moment this investigation this recovery i suppose it is now is going to go on i suppose throughout the night so what whats the thoughts on the more people going to join there or what are you hearing. Will emergency vehicles and rescue is a still arriving there are officials as well convoys have arrived. I gather officials with sirens and convoys of them in fact but as for the theories the investigation itself the likely causes well meteorologists the moscow Meteorologist Office have issued a statement theyve said that this this isnt dramatic weather this is nothing unusual in that aircraft operate in this weather all the time they say that weather is a factor here is highly unlikely to have caused this crash the cause of the aircraft itself surat of the airlines yes but of course the question is was this plane another thing the investigators will be looking at was this plane sufficiently d. I. s that domodedovo airport very professional airport fly there every week or so now and youve got a bit of news on law what have you heard again not confirmed you got a line in not confirmed we did see photos of allegedly the plane being covered in that antifreeze liquid standard procedure probably for planes flying in this condition we are hearing now of your personal information coming in from. Sources unconfirmed not verified as of yet but the pilot actually refused for this thing procedure for this the icing liquid to be put on the plane i think it was during a strange strange in these weather conditions but again that is unconfirmed presumably will find out from the investigation at the site once they look more into this debris the procedure that took place before takeoff from the would it have been flown many times myself in the when its cold weather i mean sometimes. Some of the planes havent been because they need to be delisted theres no moisture in the air and i think if theyve been sitting around not that long there isnt a need to do that on the expert on it but ive often questioned. This so maybe it was normal dont know you dont know how long it is thats a regional plane maybe its only touching down for less than an hour at a time before it goes back up because of course they dont want these planes on the ground they want them in there of generating money up in the sky theres a turnaround times are often the minimal on these things arent they so a rescue operation is set to continue around the clock at the site of the crash is what rushes ministry of emergency situations have had to say thats far. Commute firefighter and rescue teams as well as ambulances immediately headed to the crash site but he got this over one hundred fifty to twenty pieces of technical equipment but are just taking part in recovering what they can from the incident you know use course but of course thoughts with the relatives theyve already been gathering at all scare poor to try and get a handle on whats happened here where that plane was expected to learn just a couple of hours after i left moscow flight just two hours two hours ten minutes or so in theory many of the relatives have understand as weve been grieving our heart goes out to that guy literally howling renders Emergency Services doctors have been deployed to the airport theyre going to help as best they can provide psychological and medical help to those coming to terms with the tragedy again even at this stage as opposed to were hoping against all hope that indeed there may have been some survivors here doesnt look good though it has to be said flights have been suspended meantime in the city of oscar can tell you here because the passengers handing their tickets back in a very somber mood there obviously right now medics are also present at the airport that flight again to remind you if you may have had some of the flight all know if anyone Friends Family crew was flight number of air lines six w. Seven zero three departing moscow earlier this afternoon just round about four hours it was a little under four hours ago its now just quarter past six in the evening moscow time now shortly after this happened details have been changing thick and fast since i spoke to aviation expert julian bray explain the planes technical capabilities here this and to north one for a combined russian ukrainian developed plane and the possible reasons for the crash. To see all pure speculation at the moment i understand there is some video footage multis parts and so it could be unrelated or course it could actually be carrying crated helicopter parts inside the aircraft the antonov is a good old work calls the ensign all day and one for eight and so its as you say its use of my old its also used for cargo and its widely used inside russia by all the by the original airlines the point is this is a really new aircraft and the maintenance on it will be fairly straightforward where its flying they could possibly thing the thing they call wind shear where the wind just suddenly goes straight up and alters the characteristics of the plane also we have to consider whether its icing whether they properly d. Ice the plane before it left moscow. Could be that size built up very quickly on the wings and that might with effect of the flying ability of the plane could well be the wind shear or it could well be that they did actually have a problem with the engines itself they could well be that the fuels i start the fuel lines of lots theres a any number of things that will have to be investigated it is a very difficult area im to stand so somehow theyve got to get the assets into the area so they can actually properly map out and find out exactly whats happening very heavy snow there ive seen some footage houses shot by local and already the parts that are shown are completely covered by snow sooner or later the black boxes were tracked he painted bright orange will or will appear and this will give you the data recorders from the flight deck and we find out exactly what did happen. So as you can see it looks like seventy one have perished there and not a plane cross the software not some routes of ilads plane crash were going to keep you posted to illustrate the coming hours as kevin dunn holkins of the studio its a pretty the latest. Tens of billions hundreds of billions probably a trillion dollars of u. S. Government subsidies a shot on the Energy Industry yes government can subsidize mining big brother crept up currencies and put those into a wall its called american citizens give each have an automatic wallet tied to this also security account and they can get a daily weekly or monthly airdrop tripped up points that they can then years to boost economy with the government can easily do that. With hopes and hands to. Be put themselves on the line to get accepted or rejected. So when you want to be president. Some who want to be rich. Have to going to be pros this is what before three in the morning cant be good. Im interested always in the water. Question. The as far as. I know welcome back to the weekly on r. T. International other top headlines today south korea welcomed the world to the Winter Olympics on friday with a grand Opening Ceremony was held in the host city. And nearly three thousand athletes from ninety two Different Countries took part in that event have before these celebrations in the Olympic Arena there was also demonstrations and fighting outside the venue people supporting peace between north and south korea had gathered for a rally another group though protested north koreas participation at all in the games clashed with police. To the to grab. The. Emotions obviously running high a protest there at the Olympic Stadium the north and south korea did march together it was an iconic move to show their warming relations they also had a unified korean flag and lit the olympic torch together and the south korean president says hes ready to accept an invitation to visit the north if certain conditions are met or this potentially sets up the first meeting between the countries in more than a decade truly big news there at the invitation was delivered by kim jong un sister shes attending the Winter Olympics and shes actually the first member of north koreas ruling family to visit the south since the nineteen fifties. Of course tomorrow russias hopes were dashed just hours before events got underway in south korea a last minute appeal from forty five russian athletes and two coaches against the doping band failed meaning they couldnt compete with their lawyers branded the decision sanctions in disguise francos there he reports from the olympic host city or. Just arbitrators of concert the process created by the i. O. C. To establish an invitation list of russian athletes to compete. From russia could not be described as a sanction but rather as an eligibility decision so there you have it according to the court of arbitration for sport ridding the russian athletes of their own pick invitations isnt equal to punishment and cas is perfectly happy with the criteria that the i. O. C. And mission lee shows for these invitations the president of the World Antidoping Agency is pleased he says that the timing is great and that all the clean athletes should now be reassured the i. O. C. Are happy to they have applauded the verdict as you can see and this tweet though the russians are obviously totally devastated i dont know what to say im really disappointed i cant understand the cast decision first they cleared the athletes and now they say sorry you cant go to the olympics this is some kind of madness its terrible not just for fleets before all of International Sport did i expect cas to reach this decision fifty fifty especially after thomas buck and one of his later speeches pressured the court of arbitration for sport after ruled in our favor he was literally threatening the court he was almost saying he would dissolve the court if it root again in favor of russian athletes. Coach Albert Dempsey and co who was by the way one of those to sue the i. O. C. Was referring to all the things that were being said about the court of arbitration for sport ahead of the hearings including the statements by the president of the i. O. C. Kind of the decision is extremely disappointing. The decision shows. The need. For reforms in the internal structure of costs here thomas bach was referring to the previous cas verdict and that requires a bit of background the forty seven russian athletes and coaches who were suing the International Olympic committee were from two groups thirty two hadnt been sanctioned by the odyssey investigators as a result of the russian doping scandal at all fifty received lifetime bans their medals were taken away by the i. O. C. A few months ago but then the very same court of arbitration for sport last week cancelled these lifetime bans due to insufficient evidence the appeals of held the sanctions and notes and the individual results achieved in such reinstated so the decision that we have right now completely contradicts the previous one and this is a real disaster for the country the athletes both the ones who are still going to compete and saying under a neutral flag and those who are banned the coaches the fans they are baffled by how unfair it could get have no where. I was hoping that gas would ruin our game or right now i dont know what to do im disappointed in what of course and i wont give up on suborning thats again a lot ahead of me and i will compete and win medals for my country. And to the very end we will bring the this. As you would go in favor now i feel sadness and sorrow. Every competition i can. Drink in the opportunity to compete in the next blimp. I have no emotions left we had all our bags you were just waiting for a Decision Making such situations make you stronger emotionally while the two careers were able to march for a single flag to be rushing the battles of air under neutral by to taking bart has a limb pick athletes from russia or team a are lost after the International Olympic committee banned russia following a doping scandal although the russian flags been forbidden by the i. O. C. It still managed to find its way into the stadium. When i heard that russia can watch under their own flag i felt quite sorry for the athletes you know the athletes who were completely clean and had no problems but they were deprived of the right to represent their country and so i thought i would support them by putting the flag out there partially said because you know i was looking forward to seeing the best in the world in what the russians are the best in the world a lot of things so i cant see them which is kind of set but mostly mad because theyve worked for years for these olympics and now theyre being told you know they dont even have really proof they just have suspicions and now theyre being told without really a chance to properly appeal they cant compete and i just think thats really unfair. In a price of start of the games with a clean sweep in the first mens cross count country skiing event it took gold silver and bronze the norwegian athlete Symon Simon Kruger took the gold medal he crashed at the start of the race but still managed to get back up and win norway now has eight medals in total which puts them in third place in the overall medals table norways participation at the games was never in doubt of course their arrival has been met with controversy after a norwegian state run broadcaster published a list of the drugs the team doctor took with him to a remarkable amount of us medication was noted six thousand doses also containing banned substances thats ten times more drugs than for example neighboring finland brought to south korea. And other quantity of medicine as raise the number of concerns most of these drugs contain substances banned by water the world antidoping watchdog argues they can hearts and athletes performance by expanding their lung capacity and norways own doping agency has also admitted the country has a problem with the over use of medication it is common practice in norway to occasionally use asthma medicine in major elements in the rest patrice system even with the diagnosis vastly is not specific. Now these latest revelations come after the release of a documentary that alleges the existence of an organized doping system within norways Skiing Federation we spoke to one of the journalists behind the film. The ski federation is very angry about this and they dont want to talk about this problem and thats very sad in oregon as finland its more. Than a ski federation doping program we can see that forty one percent of the middle east have normal blood it means i dont think this is clean competitions we will see there are. Doping also in this competitions. And just a reminder for those of you just joining us here on r. T. International a plane with seventy one passengers and crew on board has crashed shortly after takeoff from Moscows Domodedovo airport where the plane was an errant off one four eight it was operated by sort of airlines that was heading to the city of all thats close to the russian border with kazakstan further to the east of the country eyewitnesses reportedly say they saw the plane on fire before it went down unconfirmed reports of course so far there were reportedly sixty five passengers and six crew on board the flight number was six seven zero three for those of you wishing to check on Family Friends or loved ones margins the teams have reached the crash site already theres been dozens of bodies discovered on the ground quite harrowing images earlier including at least three children now confirmed by the Emergency Ministry areas near a village about sixty kilometers south east of moscow theres been a cordon established two kilometers around the area we do have a correspondent there on scene bringing us the latest updates we will go to him during the next twenty minutes or so still no word on what might have caused the plane to come down investigators though keeping an open mind so far saying all versions are being considered at this point. Im going to go to for a short break now i will bring you the latest updates on that breaking news story as well as the top stories from this week just in the next couple of minutes here on out international.
