Other women have since come forward and identified the rocker as their abuser. Loma Vista Recordings and CAA promptly cut ties with the artist and California's Sen. Susan Rubio is calling on the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the allegations.
McGowan, a vocal advocate for women’s rights, says she wasn’t abused by her ex, but she believes the alleged victims’ statements.
“When he was with me, he was not like that, but that has no bearing on whether he was like that with others before or after," she says in a video posted online. "It takes time to come forward. And again, I am proud. Proud of these women and anybody who stands against an abuser.”
