CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Uber and Lyft have created an industry sharing safety program. It will allow the companies to share information about drivers and delivery people deactivated from their platforms for serious safety incidents, including sexual and physical assaults. The safety sharing program only applies to deactivated drivers, not riders.
However, there is another instance of the companies working together to ban problematic riders. Both Uber and Lyft banned a woman named Arna Kimiai after she started an altercation with an Uber driver. Kimiai was caught on camera not wearing a mask and coughing on the driver. She also snatched his phone from his hands, and snatched his mask off of his face. She is now charged with robbery, assault and battery, conspiracy and violation of health and safety code. She is currently out on bond.
