Deputies have put another alleged sex offender behind bars after a report came in about a Richlands man sexually abusing a child.
On Jan. 14 the Onslow County Sheriff's Office first received the report and began their investigation with their Special Victims Unit. On Feb. 3 deputies concluded their investigation after learning 24-year-old Caleb Michael Lee Sydes was allegedly sexually abusing a minor female.
Sydes and the victim are reported to have known each other as he is also accused of sending inappropriate pictures of himself to the girl.
Deputies arrested Sydes without incident. He resides on Gregory Fork Road in Richlands and is charged with two counts of felony statutory sex offense with a child 15 years or younger, felony incident liberties, felony solicit child by computer, and felony disseminating obscene material to a minor under the age of 16.
