It was a beautiful day to go to space. On a clear Sunday morning in New Mexico, Virgin Galactic CEO Richard Branson, calling himself Astronaut 001, became the first aerospace company founder to launch to space onboard a spacecraft his company built.
Through a garbled audio transmission from space, Branson could be heard saying it was "the experience of a lifetime."
Later when back on Earth, Branson barely able to contain his excitement added, “I have dreamt of this moment since I was a kid, but honestly nothing could prepare you for the view of Earth from space. The whole thing was just magical."
