PROVIDENCE — The Rhode Island Commerce Corporation board Friday afternoon approved $46.2 million in state incentives for a proposed $284-million soccer stadium and residential and commercial development on the Seekonk River in Pawtucket.
Tidewater Landing would include a 7,500- to 11,000-seat soccer stadium, 435 units of housing, 60,000 square feet of commercial office space and 56,750 square feet of retail and restaurant space. It also would include a 4,000-foot river walk connecting Festival Pier, home of dragon-boat racing, to downtown Pawtucket and would have a pedestrian bridge across the river.
A second phase, not part of the project approved Friday, is proposed to include an indoor sport event center and a hotel.
