A retired Northport police captain is the first to announce his intentions to seek the District 61 seat in the Alabama House of Representatives.
Ron Bolton, 60, is seeking to fill the office being vacated by Rep. Rodney Sullivan, R-Northport, who announced earlier this year that he had no intention of seeking re-election after serving one term in the office.
This will mark the first bid for public office by Bolton, who is seeking the Republican nomination for the seat. He describes himself as a lifelong conservative.
“I’m running for the Alabama Legislature because I understand the importance of strong representation in Montgomery,” Bolton said in a news release announcing his candidacy.
