Restart of Genesee County Circuit Court jury trials delayed after county sees coronavirus spike

GENESEE COUNTY, MI -- Criminal jury trials in Genesee County Circuit Court scheduled to restart this week have been delayed until at least Wednesday, March 10 after Genesee County saw a spike in COVID-19 cases.
Chief Judge Duncan Beagle told MLive-The Flint Journal on Tuesday, March 2 -- the date jury trials were due to restart following a Feb. 26 announcement -- about the latest delay.
Genesee County now has a seven-day average positivity rate above of 5% on coronavirus diagnostic tests after it saw a surge in both coronavirus case numbers and positivity rates. It had 359 cases in the seven days compared to 164 the previous week, a 119% jump.
