STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Islanders are more likely to have legal handguns than residents of any other New York City borough, a Daily News analysis of available NYPD data found.
The report, which drew public permit records of people who have not requested their information be exempt, shows that Staten Island has nearly 15% of handgun permits issued in the five boroughs despite having under 6% of the population.
