Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is one step closer to becoming the third-highest ranking Republican in the House of Representatives.
Wednesday, members of the GOP voted to remove Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney as conference chair due to her criticisms of former president Donald Trump. Shortly afterwards, Stefanik declared her intention to seek that position, saying she's focused on defeating the agenda laid out by President Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. A vote on who is going to take over for Cheney is expected to happen Friday.
