Rep. McGovern, immigrant leaders join coalition's virtual roundtable 'No Recovery Without Immigrants'
U.S. Rep. James P. McGovern said in a virtual roundtable event that, "none of us could have survived the pandemic without the essential work and services provided to each of us in our families by the immigrant community."
During the forum entitled "No Recovery Without Immigrants", the Congressman said the U.S. has a new president who recognizes the values and hard work brought by the immigrant community.
The event was held by the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA), Tuesday morning.
"We have a president who's not a racist (and) who doesn't demonize immigrants," McGovern said. "We have a president who is trying to help us find a pathway to citizenship for a big chunk of our immigrant community, who has promised to sign bills into law if we could get them on his desk."
