Reminder: Mandatory Reporting for Title IX & Civil Rights
May 3, 2021
Baylor Policy and Texas law requires any employee of a college or university in Texas to report to the Title IX Coordinator any information regarding an alleged incident of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, or stalking, committed by or against a person enrolled at or employed by the institution at the time of the incident. This requirement is for all employees with information both direct and indirect to notify the Title IX Coordinator even if you believe someone else has reported the information. Failure to report may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination while violations of the specific law (Texas Senate Bill 212) requires colleges to terminate employment for employees who fail to report such matters and imposes criminal penalties of up to a year in jail.
