In a Black History Month special, With Dr. Barbara Ransby (Author of “Eslanda: The Large and Unconventional Life of Mrs. Paul Robeson”), we remember the lives of the legendary human rights activist, singer, historian and actor Paul Robeson, and his spouse Mrs. Eslanda Robeson. One of the most celebrated singers and actors of the 20th century, Mr. Robeson was attacked, white listed and hounded by the U.S. government for his political beliefs and his contributions of unifying multinational workers. Mrs. Eslanda Robeson, known by her friends as “Essie,” was an author, an anthropologist and a globally connected activist who worked to end colonialism in Africa, and racism in the United States. http://www.democracynow.org
