In 1995 -- he started his career in corrections in Olmsted county.
He was loved by many people in the community including his law enforcement family.
"Mark had a big impact on the community obviously he worked with juveniles for a time and transitioned to the adult detention center and I think that it can be spoken for in a million ways that's one of the hardest jobs to have and he firmly believed in rehabilitation and getting people back into the community," says Aviana Torkelson, Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.
"He had a lot of impact not just into the community, but his coworkers as well, he was like family to quite a few of his coworkers I know he was like a brother to me," says Mollie Kolb, Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.
