Multiple sclerosis (often shortened to MS), is a chronic disease of the immune system, which causes an abnormal response against the central nervous system. This response causes damage to myelin, which is the coating that protects nerve fibers. As a result, patients with MS can have myriad symptoms, including dizziness, vertigo, double vision, numbness, fatigue, stiffness and muscle spasms.
