Seven manufacturers of Remdesivir will almost double production capability to 78 lakh vials per month. Manufactueres have volunteered to reduce the price to less than Rs 3,500 by the end of this week

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reviewed the issue of availability of Remdesivir, used in treating patients of SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, with all existing manufacturers of the drug. It was decided that the production of antiviral drug will be ramped up and prices will be reduced. The decision comes amid widespread reports of shortage and black-marketeering of the drug.
