"The repatriation of the remains is being arranged by the employer but after an investigation conducted by the criminal investigation department of the (host) country," said Rolly Francia, director of the DOLE Information and Publication Service (IPS), in a virtual forum. He added that the cause of death of the OFW identified as Gladys Olarte Fong in Kuwait City was due to asphyxia. "Based on the report to Secretary Silvestre Bello III by labor attache Nasser Mustafa, Gladys Olarte Fong committed suicide. According to the report of the Ministry of Health, the cause of her death is due to asphyxia of compression on the neck," he added. At the same time, Francia expressed sympathies to the bereaved family of the OFW. On Tuesday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Fong was found dead inside her room in the Al-Salam area in Kuwait City last March 14.
