Religious View: Let’s make some noise
Religious View: Rabbi Chaim Zaklos
As a child, one of the highlights of my year was the holiday of Purim we Jews around the world will celebrate this coming Friday. It’s a fun holiday, especially since we get to make noise in the synagogue.
Customarily, each time the name of Haman (the bad guy) is read aloud, the entire congregation joins in an effort to create a tremendous racket with graggers and as many noise-making objects as possible (not a difficult task for children!).
There are no coincidences in Judaism and every part of our tradition is filled with meaning, teaches a lesson and reflects a deeper dimension and reality. Bearing this in mind, I’d like to share a Jewish thought about ‘noise’:
